I test drove a 9th Gen and will be picking it up later this week. However, I have noticed that the gear lever or knob rotates about 45 degrees in both directions. It almost felt as if it wasn't screwed on tight- I didn't turn any further in case I make it worse.

I've driven many cars and never come across one that rotates like this one. Can anyone confirm that is normal on the Gen 9? If not I shall be asking the dealer to fix before purchase.

Thanks in advance.

Certainly not a feature:- The knob is a simple screw on affair, with no locking nuts - I imagine somone's been heavy handed with the shifter (Gripping hard) - Just turn it clockwise and it'll screw on, Do so until it's as tight as possible and facing the right direction.

If you need to, you can just pull down on the silver top of the gaiter, and it will pop off allowing the shiter to rotate.

As Haltamer says, it's a screw -on knob. Mine came a bit loose after about 18 months, I just screwed it back on as above.

( Space for double entendre comment from Carry On films ).

I would get the garage to do it before you collect the car-- it's their job.
