Hi there ... I have 2011 8th gen 6 Speed manual Civic type s 1.4 ivtec for half a year. Bought it with 89k miles on it and some service history, but it's useless as do not shows whats been done so I will have to change fluids myself... Done filters, spark plugs and engine oil - wanted to bleed brakes and found here what people call clutch fluid? Clutch/tranmision fluid and gearbox oil? Im sorry I am nooby at this, but I like to DIY. Manual do not show this in service and I dont know the intervals to this to be changed . I read few post that changing gearbox oil will help to change gears which I have problems with 1st and 2nd gear rest feels good ... Can anyone lighten me when does these fluids need to be changed? And do clutch fluid really is same as brake fluid?
Thanks

Dean's correct for gearbox fluid.
clutch fluid is same as brake fluid, change it every 2/3 years like you would for brakes.

Changing the gearbox oil will make a massive difference to the gear change, certainly did on mine, and everyone else who ha done it. It really should be a 30k interval, not 75k that Honda state.

A article I read by a gearbox specialist advised every two years for gearbox if you aim to keep the car. Once you start feeling/hearing noises from gearbox, it’s too late.
