Good afternoon
Long time watcher
Recent moved from the Honda civic mk8 to fn2
Love the car
Just a few things that I hope people could help me with.

1)First of all I have read about flashpro/Hondata. If I wish to make the car quicker should I look at this option or turbo. The only problem with turbo is the cost to install I have seen In region of 8k .

2) I was wonder on the motorway I was hoping for better mpg. I was wondering is there an option of changing the gear ratio for my driving style e.g going through local traffic/motorway driving then a option to switch it to sports mode?

3) last just wondering about maintance of the car what should I be doing as this is my first hot hatch. Just want to make sure my wallet don't get burnt by the dealer if I can do it myself

Any help would be greatful

Hi, you'll probably not improve the mpg, not a car to get if you don't like 28-32mpg.
Performance, depends how much quicker you want it. Boosted makes the biggest difference, from a personal perspective I prefer normally asperated and to get maximum n/a gains is no cheaper than boosting. Flashpro is a tuning tool that will get the best from any mods you make, usually breathing mods on the k20. It helps give more mid range grunt, and expands the vtec power band.

1) Hondata or ECUTEK will improve the car, though ECUTEK has more features such as flat foot shifting etc. Getting my FN2 turbo charged soon but not necessary unless you are looking for serious power. Depends on how quick you want the car. a remap will bring Vtec in earlier amongst other benefits.

2) Can't see you being able to change gear ratios on the fly! It's an FN2, why worry about mpg!

3) Avoid the dealers at all costs, you WILL be ripped off. Find a good independent garage you trust. For me, it's ABP, TDI or Grinspeed as I live up North. not sure where you are based but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to point you in the right direction.

Any breathing mods you would suggest?
With the flashpro what do you mean any mods you make?

Any modifications you make, like adding a catback or induction kit (not handmade :laugh2:).
Usually an induction kit and catback exhaust is a starting point, then inlet manifold and bigger throttle body, then race header, cams, fd2 oil pump etc if you want to go that far.
It's probably better with getting the suspension set up first, decent tyres too.

Turbo is 8K plus LSD aporox 1K and new clutch approx 600. Brakes, exhaust and suspension already done. So for me I am looking around 9.5K. Apparently, TDI add 3 maps 350, 400 and 450 bhp for standard engine i.e not forged.

Is TDI South not down your way?
