Hi all,

I’ve noticed my glovebox light doesn’t work. All the interior lights work otherwise. I e tried changing the bulb, but that didn’t make a difference.

Anyone have any ideas? I’d check the fuse but I don’t know where the interior ones are, or which number!

Thanks!

C35, 7.5A is the fuse you need, in the under dash fuse box.

However, That also does...
Ambient light*15, Audio unit*8*22, Climate control unit*17, Driver's door inner handle illumination*24, Driver's door linning illumination*24, Driver's seat heater switch light*19, ECON switch light, Front passenger's door inner handle illumination*24, Front passenger's door linning illumination*24, Front passenger's seat heater switch light*19, Glove box light*8, Hazard warning switch light, Headlight leveling switch light*11, Headlight washer switch light, Idle stop OFF switch light*1, LDW OFF switch light, Parking and back-up sensor OFF switch light, Passenger's airbag ON/OFF indicator*23, Sunshade switch light*16, Ultrasonic sensor OFF switch light*25, VSA OFF switch light

So It's probably not the fuse :)

I'd have a dig around and make sure the light fitment is actually plugged in correctly. If you're using an LED bulb, try flipping it around (Polarity!)

Probably also worth trying it with the side lights explicitly turned on; I'm not sure if the glovebox light is only on with side / headlights?

Wow, very knowledgeable reply. How do you know It does all of those?

Gutted. I tried a couple of different bulbs I had knocking about and none of them worked. They were identical to what I pulled out too.

I’ll try the side lights too. That’s a good point.

I tried turning on all the lights and couldn’t get any of them to initiate the glovebox light. So I can only think the bulb has gone, or all of my spares are duds.

Has anyone else got the pre-facelift’s glovebox and can confirm what bulb type should be fitted, and when it’s meant to come on?

As a side note, the glovebox switch looks springy/undamaged.

I think the bulb should be a T10, but that's very much a random guess. If you've got a multimeter you could take a reading at the terminals to see if you've got any power, which would allow you to pin it down to something upstream.

Sidelights have to be switched on for it to work.

Thanks for confirming. I'm sure I tested it on Sidelights, but maybe I had a duff bulb in it. I'll check again later - thanks.

Sorted - thanks all. I was being thick.

If you're thick like me and can't work out a Glovebox light and stumble upon this, you should check:

- Fuse 35, 7.5A [Dashboard Fusebox, Drivers Side - Responsible for all interior lights, i.e. if they work then it won't be this]
- Ignition Set to II or Engine Started
- Lights set to Side Lights or Headlights ON ['Auto' will only work for Glovebox Lights if Side Lights or Headlights are on]
- Replace bulb as necessary, centre of Glovebox ceiling - pull directly out [W5W]

Again another little post that's such a good little upgrade. Glovebox now has a nice bright t10 led in like the rest of the car!
