Went to the Honda Lovein last night @Bristol Honda and had a real good look at the New Civic......

..... and was very unimpressed by the whole thing. The car itself looks very "Normal" and "very Old Skool" Mass produced foder. The bloke from Honda gave as a little talk about the History of "Mr Honda"..:???:.

The car was a EX GT in white and was full of extras - nice if you can afford one. The build Quality was way above 8th Gen and a good Quality feel when you got into the cockpit.

The car looked so much bigger then 8th Gen even though they kept telling me it was only 30mm longer & 10mm wider. The car looked alot lower to me, maybe due to all that metal on view.

Asked about the Price point of the 1.6 Diesel when available and was told its not out for about 12 months and will be "between" the 1.8 & 2.2....

After talking to the Honda Man for 2-3 minutes he asked me if i wanted to order one !!.... I think not at the moment !

I will take a test drive in Feb and make my mind up then, but after last night i'm not so sure i like it anymore...

I'm a die hard Honda man and would probably still buy one just due to the fact that it's Honda... although I'm not all that keen on the car itself...

Suspension must still rattle as they never found a cure... I'd imagine in order to make the new shock absorbers without rattles they would have needed to know the initial cause?

only seen one in brochure and mags, but have they replaced the badly fitting plastic sills(on my 06 car at least) - that certainly would be an improvement.Reading some reports of the mags it evidently retains suspension rattle faults and is still somewhat behind the golf!

My first impressions were on the whole good, it looked better than I though it would, the build quality looked better. Inside were better materials although no attempt at any embelishments which I thought left it looking rather drab.

For me to buy one Honda would have to improve the paintwork. It was a white ex-gt we looked at and the orangepeel paint was really quite bad, it was immediately noticable, maybe it will improve in production. I also thought the wheels looked cheap, a sort of grey silver with bits in the paint.

I've not spent any time in either car have a 58 plate type S to pick up on Thursday so have looked at pics videos and had a road test in the older one.

Looking at the new one though from a design standpoint it looks like the car that should have came before they 8 gen, but then released the actual 8 gen and now are releasing the 9 gen where the 8 gen should have been. (8 gen a head of its time 9 gen looks like an older design than 8 gen)

I don't know how confusing that was for you I confused myself hopefully you know what i mean. lol

Looked at one… utterly underwhelmed and the engine choices are still stuck in the past.

Its being reviewed in fifth Gear tomorrow evening (7.30 CH5) but on the trailer they were driving some strange green colour which didnt do it any favours at all!

Dont want an eco mobile but something that puts a smile on my face everytime I get into it an can still turn heads 3 years on! Got that at the mo so they will have to bring out something special to make me change!! :)

I was skeptical when I went to see it, but after having the presentation I quite want one. Probably because I got bamboozled by the fancy features on the top spec model, but the general build quality in the cabin was a step above the 8th gen.

I did ask if the suspension could be reverse-engineered to fit onto the older model, but apparently not. Shame.
