hi
I have recently replaced the front pads on my R and on one side the slider pins were sticking in the bore, they came out easy enough and I have purchased some new pins but Im wandering how I can clear all the gunge and old grease etc out of the bores, there is no rust just thick crap that is preventing the pins sliding properly.do you think flush them out a few times with brake cleaner might do the trick?

Brake cleaner and use a bit of wire a drill bit same size as the hole and by HAND run this down will fetch all the old grease out. Bit of rag on a screwdriver clean it out . When installing try to use lithium grease it's better than normal grease for the slider pins.

but don't use copper grease anywhere near the rubbers it attacks the rubber and that's the main reason so many rubber covers/boots fall apart too much copper grease
