Im absolutely gutted, i am the most carefull person in the world when it comes to my car, was getting out it on tuesday during the high winds and a gust caught the door so hatd it nearly broke my finger.heres the result. Door isnt lined up and letting water in, only opens to first click and barely closes. And the doorskin is split. Most annoying thing is that im nightdhift until monday. So itl need to wait till then for me to fix it

Ouch! Someone at work has done the same thing, door is now way out of line. Several attempts to slam the door shut later and the whole thing is totally goosed.
Hope you get it sorted, its not nice especially when you're so careful

Well, insurance wanted £550 excess because I'm a young driver (25 next week) so I'm tryin to source a wing for a decent price and sort the bodywork myself, just need to find a decent body shop for paintwork, may as well use my panel beating skills for something! and yeah theres a dent on the swage where it hit the wing, the door skin is split slightly on the front edge and slight outwards kink low down on the door. Hoping hinges will just need realigned. Prob not though. And I'm guessing a new check strap will be required

Are you a panel beater mate?
Yeah mate, done my apprenticeship then a year after that, garage ended up concentrating more on commercial vehicles than cars, so I left and found a more secure job with pension ans stuff before I got payed off!

Aye, it's hard times in the body trade at the moment.

Allied in Glasgow have done away with their backshift and a small bodyshop not far from where I work payed off 6 people about a month ago. I know a few others have went to 3 day weeks.

It's the sky high excess that people can't afford to pay, one of the draw backs of getting your insurance a bit cheaper.

We have 3 cars at work just now that the punters can't afford to pay so eventually they will belong to the insurance companies.

Hope you get it sorted okay mate.

OH man! Feel for you! Are you able to get the council to pay for that damage? Or are you going through insurance?

I believe insurance will force you to pay 2 claims unless they happened at the same time during the same incident. At least that's how it works in Australia.
