Hello!

Last week i parked on my parents driveway, which is a very slight incline and when in the house seen it rolling back, rushed out and stopped it hitting a tree, the handbrake was on tight, but not over tight as if i stretched the brake cable!? (lesson learnt, leave it in first gear)

A few days later a i was pulling away from a car park space and released the hand brake fully but the brakes stuck and had to rev hard for my car to get moving, the rear brakes brakes made a loud clunk noise when got moving and not had any problems since...

Any idea's????

Your handbrake may need adjusting prevent it rolling on gradients.

With regard to the handbrake not releasing I have had the same problem with several vehicles of various makes. It usually occurs overnight when applying the handbrake with wet or rusty discs/drum from rain or cleaning. A good brake application cleans the discs.

Dont worry about if brake performance is satisfactory unless it occurs frequently.

Get someone else in the car, jack the rear up.
Spin the wheel and make sure it lock and releases on the fott brake and handbrake properly.
Your pads might be seized...... so best to check.
