Morning All,

Over the last few days i have noticed that after mt car has been stood on the handbrake for a while (parked at work or at home that sort of thing), when I release the handbrake and attempt to move there is a really loud "CLUNK!" noise that appears to be the handbrake sticking.

Has anyone else experienced any similar problem? or is it something that I will have to get the dealer to have a look at?

Thanks

As already said, it will be down to the slight corrosion build up on the face of brake disc, but this can also be caused by the parking brake mechanism on the back of the rear brake calipers (basically a lever with a spring attached to it) sticking slightly when the lever is released, most likely due to road salt contamination. This should easily be fixed by cleaning the mechanism up and applying a little grease (not penetrating oil) to stop any further complaint.
