Evenin all!!!

Brought home my new (well, new to me :) ) 56 reg 1.8EX today!

Had a little play around with all the gadets inside but had an issue trying to connect my phone.

Apologies if this has been asked already but I've trawler the forums and couldn't find an answer.

Basically, whoever had the car before has put a passcode on the hands free link and now I can't override it!! :(

I sat in the car and shouted all sorts at it but won't let me do anything without the passcode.

The dealer who I bought the car off is going to try and find out what it is but I'm not holding out much hope.

Is this going to involve a costly trip to a Honda dealership where I get charged £50+ to have my car plugged into a computer?!! :(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Ta!!!

welcome :D

As you have only just got the car, the reset should be free - it was not fully working when you got it :)

It will take your Dealer 10 -15 minutes to reset it and that includes teaming up the phone for you.
If you don't want your own code entered, tell him and he will leave it blank.

Cool, thanks :) Out of all the things I was looking forward to having and the one I needed didn't work! Will be making a phonecall today to get it sorted.

Panic over!

Thanks ;) x

My car was only a couple of months old, when the girl under the dash self scrambled it, by blurting out a new code without any prompting from me.
I couldn't remember it, as she caught me on the hop.
I would be very surprised if they charge you a penny though.
As I mentioned above, I told them that I didn't want to have to enter a code, so they set it to blank.
If someone gets into your car, the phone will be the least of your worries.:)

Well, my most local Honda dealer (half hour away :( )has booked me in to unlock my handsfre code. Funny how they want to book it in for a couple of hours though :s I can almost hear the money fluttering out of my bank account already! Glad it's payday on Monday :'(

Don't let them take you for a ride.
I didn't even book mine in, just turned up when I was passing.
15 minutes max', if they think that they will have your future custom (servicing etc.)
They only have to link it up with the computer.
Anyway, this should have been checked and deleted by the Dealer, prior to handing the car over to you, so it's their problem.;)
Going back up on my roof now, so don't call me down again.;):D:D

I was Internet-less most of yesterday but it did give me the chance to have another go at cracking the code.... And god am I good!!!!! Went and sat in the car... Had a little think... Told her ladyship under the dash the numbers 1964 and BINGO!!!!! :D

I was so proud of myself and my bank sighed a sigh if relief too :)

Not still on the roof are you??!!! ;)

I'm just about to go up there again Mate.
Pointing in the Gable end roof tiles, as we catch the weather down here in Inbredinthemoor.
What an earth made you come up with 1964? - that would have been one shot in thousands of combinations.
You now have access to all of the previous owners telephone numbers.
Bad news for him, if you telephone his wife, with the number of his bit on the side.;)

Well I knew that the previous owner was a male, so thought he might gave been in his 40's... So just picked 1964 :) Clever girl!!!!!

I've not tried this myself yet, but the civic owners manual has a section towards the end of the hands free telephone system for clearing the system -"clears the HFT system of your passcode, paired phones, phonebook names, recommended before selling your vehicle" (page 285 in mine)

Quick summary is:-
press talk,
say system, it prompts
say clear, it prompts,
say yes,
could take 2 minutes, then says system cleared.
Go back to setting up your own password, phone book etc.

Yeh, that does work, if you know the original passcode! But still had to individually clear each address etc off of the nav system. But I'm all sorted now... Yeyyyy! :)
