Called into my local motor factors today to get the servicing parts for my 2009 2.2 cdti ready for the job tomorrow. Just had a look at the fuel filter they gave me and I dont think its the correct one. Here's a pic.





Am I right in thinking that it should look like this one?

Well it'd definitely fit a pre-facelift (pre-2006) Accord i-CTDi. I don't think it'll fit a 2009 Civic... I believe yours should be a replaceable (Denso?) cartridge (as shown at the bottom of your post). I hope a Civic diesel owner can confirm this

The main thing I wanted to say is; never fit a non-OEM fuel filter to an i-CTDi. These engines are horribly fussy and Honda forums are full of stories from owners who have had engine problems after using non-standard filters. Just a couple of weeks ago I helped a fellow TypeAccord forum member who had cutting-out/limp home issues - these went away immediately after we fitted the correct Bosch OEM filter (even though the aftermarket one was only fitted at the previous service!

+1 ....if you dont want issues get genuine honda filters.

Just to say that I bought a Japan Parts replacement filter from EuroParts and have just changed it after 25k miles, no problems didn't miss a beat, fitted perfectly and looked pretty much the same as the genuine Honda one, think some of the problems with filters are because they dont get changed at the recommended interval because it's too difficult and expensive.

But very often non-standard filters do cause problems on the i-CTDi after a short period of use. Odd really, as making filters shouldn't be rocket science and, logically, some aftermarker suppliers should be up to the task... looks like you found one!
