Auto all the time - unless demisting screen or driving with windows down.

Keeps me just right on 21 or 22 :)

This is my first post in a looong time. How I've missed the site!

I tend to use manual quite a lot mainly for 2 reasons:
  1. Use of recirculate to reduce exhaust fumes being drawn in.
  2. Reduce fan speed manually to minimise noise
The fan can be quite noisy, more so when recirculating. Demist is another reason for using manual. I find auto quite good, but it tends to keep the fan on a higher setting than I would prefer.

Auto other than for demisting (useful to have a specific button for that), or fume avoidance.

Fan noise drops right down once selected temperature has been reached.

I rarely use auto, maybe I'll start now - does it not guzzle fuel though?

Aircon only kicks in when the external air temp is higher than the target internal temp, & I think when the inside of the car is stupidly hotter than the target temp, maybe having been parked in the sun on a hot day. It should then switch off the aircon once the target temp can be maintained purely by balancing external air & engine heated air.
