Hello everybody!

Not a Honda owner yet, but will probably be shortly. Kind of fell in love with the 5D, not to mention a bit impressed with the performance for "only" being a 140 CV car.

Got great response on this forum! Thanks everybody!

Welcome!

You have found the right place.

Remember to memorise the Wiki before talking to the dealers.
Then you will know more about the car than they do!

Welcome!

The 5D is both good looking and VERY versatile.
Its huge boot size (for a compact car) and flexible rear seat solution can take loads of cargo - I play in a music band; I know this!
The performance - for being a 1.8l petrol - is impressive, and so is the low fuel consumption - especially in urban driving imo.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I'll read up quite a bit on the wiki, and write a few good questions, then I am off to the dealers.

I visited two different dealers this weekend (RA in Uppsala and Honda City in Upplands Väsby). Tested the 5D on both occations, and just for fun, took a Type R for a little spin.

I really enjoyed the 1.8 machines power. The sound will have me driving to work at 2nd and 3rd gear the first few weeks! The resources under the hood are more than enough for a family car of this size and certainly enough to get fined for speeding :) .

However I LOVED the Type R suspension. I think that the sport suspension option on the 5D will be worth it. (I read somewhere on this forum that it was not available, but the seller today didn't know that as he quoted it. So if anyone can enlighten me I'd be happy!)

There are a few options that I want to have like the blue light in the footwells, stainless doorstep garnish and the Grand Prix package - but I think I will skip the 18" Storm alloys and get an aftermarket alloy in 18". The storms are way too expensive with a list price of 26,000 SEK (approx 2750€).

Well, it has always been marketed, but early on people who ordered it didn´t get it.

The launch was delayed time and time again.

Recently, there have been some posts about it again, so maybe it is available.

Was it RA or HondaCity who quoted it?

I went for an EX instead of spending money on GP kit and 18" Storms, but it looks good with that stuff on.

I couldn't agree more. Here in Norway they are even more expensive. I've heard mentioned something like NOK. 30.000. ( as per today according to SVT Text-TV, 100 NOK. = 120 SEK. = approx 36.000SEK.) That's crazy, pure and simple, and the reason why I didn't buy them, as well.
You can buy yourself almost two set of really good looking aftermarket alloys all included for that amount of money. I know it's the same with all car makes, not just Honda, but still I wonder how Honda can defend a price like that on the Storm's just because they put their H-badge on them?

It was Honda City. He wanted to have a fair amount of dough for it though :)

The 18" alloys add ca 1200€ in the car builder at Honda.co.uk, don't know if that is correct though.

I suppose your question was meant for me. Anyway, I paid NOK 16.900,- for my complete Momo/Toyo wheels stabilized and fitted on the car. Later I discovered that I could have bought them cheaper elsewhere, as the dealer I bought them from is rather expensive. :( Even with the NAF - discount deducted. ( Norwegian Automobile Associaton.)
I might sell them before the season starts, as I always find myself looking at other peoples wheels, and therefore soon gets tired of the same alloys. [smilie=tongue.gif]

This:

Honda Accessories Car and Motorcycle - Honda Access Europe NV

Lists a set of 4 18" storms with tyres at 27746,25 SEK
Yes, I have seen that. I have used that list to make a rough calculation for where I will end up.

But the strange thing is that the alloys themselves cost ~2700 SEK each, which is not that bad. However, that makes the tyres they put on the wheels mighty expensive!

Here you can build a civic and add some options...
Honda Car Experience

Build you civic and the suggested price they come up with for 18" alloys are £850. However, they dont specify the model. But that is still on par with what other manufacturers usually offer.

Well, they said that they didn't want to give me a paper with the offer since they didn't want me to be able to "prove" what price I got from them. I almost told him that his effort was good, but since the prices were above the recommended prices on honda-access.com it wouldn't matter ;)

RA in Uppsala have been nice to me but I didn't feel that I got the added value I want to take their offer.

I am going to. Next weekend. I was planning to visit both of them (LDS & Rosenholtz).

Regarding honda city, he said that he didn't want the other Honda Dealers to think that "Honda City are dumping the prices" - I didn't want to insult him so I didn't say that he wouldn't have to bother about that as his prices were being 5-10% higher than the ones I got from RA. ;)

Now I have decided what options I really want and now it is basically only the difficult part left... what colour should I choose
