Dear wiseones....
Not used my 06 2.2 Civic for 3 days, went to start it today and there is a problem. Put the key in and pressed the start button and got a tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick and the dash lights flashed on and off.
when i took my finger off the button, the " i " orange warning light came on on the upper dash, and when i pressed the " i " button on the wheel and scrolled through the display it had the following symbols; air bag i, steering wheel i, ABS i, VSA. Any ideas what up?

Just sounbds like a dead battery to me. The civ's one's only last about 3 years before they start going on the blink. I couldn't leave my car for 2 days without it going dead. Take it to honda and get them to do a battery test..

Thanks mate...
I suspected that what it might be but the battery isn't that old, maybe 12 months.

Should I just get a new one from halfords or try to jump it from my other car?

I dont beleive Honda batteries are supposed to be that expensive from the dealers.
If the battery has gone in 12 months ask the dealer to check if the car has the MICU recall fix.
Without this some cars whose lights/wipers were left on auto would drain the current and would not go into standby with ignition off.
Do you leave your lights and wipers on auto.
Do you use the battery for items in the car with engine off.

Jump it without the key in the ignition, then drive to your local non-halfords battery shop and get one of these:

Varta E44 096 Silver Dynamic Car Battery|Varta Silver Dynamic|auto parts|automotive parts|car parts|car accessories

or equivalent. Will last longer than the Honda supplied one, and comes with a several-year guarantee too.

Batteries are a fixed price from Honda dealers. £70 fitted I think.

Bit late now - but the Bosch S4 (for Petrol) and Bosch S6 (for Diesel) batteries have a superb reputation ...

Also, it's possible to fit the S6 to Petrol models, if you change out the battery tray \ carrier for that used in the 2.2 - a very useful mod. for those who live in cold climates ! ...
