Hi guys,

Had a good search but cant find anything so thought I would make a new post.
Got a Type S GT with sat-nav and HFT built in. Heres the wierd part,
It seems that I have the phone paired fine and it connects when I get in, and i have received one call which seemed to go ok, although the person said I faded out after a few minutes of call (Not sure about that as havent had any more calls to see if it happens again)
Wierd part is, is that if I try and make an outgoing call, even though the phone is there on the info panel to say its paired the phone somehow starts on bluetooth, then swaps to the phones speaker so I get no sound out of the bluetooth at all.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I am using a desire HD which isnt in the compatability list, but if it takes incoming calls surely outgoing should be the same?

any info or suggestions welcome.

Ok I think Ive worked out the problem, posting it as it may help others.
It appears that if you want to use the HFT honda kit, firstly of course your bluetooth must be on and your phone paired to the car.
BUT everything you do , you must do using the steering wheel and voice commands, I can dial and receive calls fine, as long as I use the steering buttons for answering and dialling.
If at any point you dial using the phone itself, or answer using the phone it disconnects from the car and does it by itself.
I guess from a safety point of view it stops you looking at your phone, but that means if you want to call someone not in the limited 50 phonebook you have to get the number from your phone, tell the car what number to dial and then youre ok.

You all might know this but thought I would post it in case it helps anyone.

I guess, that´s most likely the problem.
Usually, supported phones don´t disconnect from the HFT, even if you dial a number unknown to this system and even if you use the phone itself for dialing.

As for the HFT´s 50 numbers limit, did you already know, you can use not only the HFT but the nav system, too, to make any calls?
It´s not as comfortable as the HFT, but still it works.

Start from the main menu of your nav system.
If you say "Phonebook" (using the steering buttons for the nav system, not the ones for the HFT), you will find an option to transfer the whole phonebook into the nav system, including all contacts beyond the HFT limit.
Keep an eye on both the nav system and your phone, in case there are any messages to be confirmed.

After that, starting from the nav´s main menu, say "Phonebook" again and you will find a contact list just like the one in your phone.
Navigate to the wanted contact by saying "Next" (or "Down") and say the according number you see at the beginning of that line.
Then say "Dial" to get connected.

Btw.: Of course, you will have to press the nav´s steering button for each of your voice commands.

The alternative cheat is to quickly dial oand hang up on the Desire, then press the HFT steering wheel Burton and say "redial"

This doesn't work on mine. Would like it too though. Can anyone else confirm it does

Sounds like you are using the wrong button, try the HFT "off hook" button not the one for controling satnav climate etc...

Also, can only transfer the phone book on later cars... 2010 onwards...

Sorry Bob , that doesnt help that describes the pairing process, my phone is already paired, this thread was about using the phone to send and recieve calls and then putting the phonebook in using the sat nav controls.

My HTC Desire works fine with the HFT whether I dial from the sat nav phone book or the phone itself.

You might try saying "Telephone book" instead of "Phone book".
Sorry, if I used a bad translation.

I was referring to the menu shown in the attachment below (it´s the german version, but I guess, you know what menu I mean).

In fact, it was difficult for me, too, to make the system understand this command.
Maybe you should play a little bit with the vowels in this command, because it often depends on how you pronounce it.
(Remember, you must use the nav´s steering buttons, not the ones for the HFT.)

In case, it still doesn´t work, I´m afraid, your car doesn´t seem to support this feature. Mine is a facelift model from 2009, btw. ...

i dont think 2006 - 2009 cars have the better HFT integration as in the later models.
I would seriously be interested if some have modded their pre 2009 model into a later type HFT / Phone book system
