Ouch. Like Ben suggested, I'd have a look around at breakers and salvage yards. Hopefully you'll find what you need going cheap...certainly cheaper than a grand anyways.

right so its a grand for a fuel rail a grand for an ecu a grand for a clutch and flywheel a grand for a turbo how do these ever get written off? my advice contact everyone selling an engine on ebay and ask if they will sell the fuel rail seperately or find out the bosch part number (im assuming its bosch as the rest of the fuelling is) and see if a bosch supplier sells it. you could also try and find out if its fitted to anything else i know we share a turbo with the 2.0d bmw for instance

as you can see from the below link there is a honda part number and a bosch part number so if you find the bosch number i believe you will find a cheaper answer
CIVIC 2.2 I-CTDI 06->ON BOSCH FUEL INJECTOR 0445110288 on eBay (end time 20-Mar-11 15:17:37 GMT) sorry for all the posts but that price has really annoyed me here it is on lings site and it doesnt actually look much different to the renault one at a glance note the price of the pump....

most of the breakers on ebay are listing bosch part numbers as well as dealer part numbers so a google search of the bosch part number may find what other vehicles have the same part, i have put a post on tdoc see if any of the derv experts have any ideas http://www.tdocuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=9033

I had a look around... and I can't find the part number..... or even the part... I think I might just sell a few things and get it fixed by Honda...

Just out of interest was the car chipped? The only reason I ask is some remap/chip boxes work by cranking up the pressure and this can lead to problems and may also affect the fuel pump.

In these cases, you really should ask the garage exactly what is wrong and what they are doing to fix it, get them to show you. My view is that a lot of them will tell you anything and charge you anything.

It usually ain't the rail that fails,it's the fuel pressure sensor that fails, the bit that's screwed into the end of it, but most makes now don't sell just the sensor they sell the whole rail, thats when it gets expensive. I do believe that peugeot still sell their sensors seperate at about £150.00 a pop.
