You're right there. Went to test drive a little Toyota Aygo. It's been in showrooms for over a year and that had an aux input from day one!

And what surprised me even more - so does the Honda Jazz

I asked my local dealer about why the Jazz has one but the civic does not.

His answer:

The jazz has an aux input to compete with the avego (toyota thing) and that honda are looking into an after market option but the dealers are unsure when it will be happening.

Lets say i left very unhappy

oh well, back to mp3 cds

hehe

please bear with me on this one, as I might be barking up completly the wrong tree....

The Jazz has an aux in

From the pics I can find, this doesn't appear to be on the HU itself - possibly in the arm rest?

So somehow, it must connect to the back of the HU

Which may or may not have the same connection as the Civ HU?

That's as far as I can guess - anyone able to fill in the gaps?

The Jazz has an AUX in in front of the gear stick, behind it's cupholders. Bottom of the center console.

As posted on under the Sep/Oct deliveries thread, a couple of us have now seen that 2007 model year cars (at least until Honda feel the need to fit one) also have no aux input :( Bummer!

Sorry if I'm missing the point here!!!![smilie=confuzzled.: [smilie=confuzzled.: [smilie=confuzzled.:
What exactly does the Honda AUX cable do?
My understanding is that it connects to the head, and allows audio in. If I'm happy not to have control of the iPod from the Honda controls, is this cable all I need? What does the Connect2 do that the AUX cable doesn't?
Apologies for all the questions....
All I want to do is enjoy my iPod music through the speakers - anything else is a bonus!
Thanks for reading this - any advise GREATLY accepted

I think we are looking at 2 seperate options here:

1) BASIC - a 3.5mm stereo in jack plug allowing pretty much any music source to act as input to the car system

2) ADVANCED - some sort of connector which allows music out of an (iPod) into the car system, and ALSO control signals from the car system back to the (iPod)

Both systems would appear to need to plug into the back of the car HU, and the best (only?) place for this to happen appears to be where the Honda fit multi CD changer plug goes.

BUT - the plug on our Civics appears to be different to that on previous Civics, or indeed any other car in the Honda range :(

I think that sums it up - someone please shout if I've got it worng!

hello all !

i'm reading this forum for a while, hoping to find THE thing to connect my ipod in my civic.

few weeks ago, i sent an email to honda switzerland about that. i got a first answer telling that it wasn't possible at this time.

and now, i recieved a second email. it was telling me that there is a wired fm modulator available :
Modulateur FM - MFM01
Ref. A3330 NAV DVM85
which costs 180 CHF (about 115 euros) and can be installed by my local dealer.

another thing, dension has now a ice>link plus video kit for the new honda :
http://www.dension.fr/boutique/fiche_produit.cfm?type=44&ref=ilhon_copie&code_lg=lg_fr&pag=2&num=0&tri=0&marq=0

sorry, the page is in french ...
it is sold in france, i haven't found this kit on the swiss website.

has anyone already had a look at those two systems ? i'm going to ask my dealer tomorrow ...

Well found.
Not a bad price either considering that France has never been the cheapest of places.
To purchase from this site or wait for a UK site to sell is the big question?
I had the ice>link plus in my Accord and it worked really well, you couldn't tell the difference between it an the CD.

my schoolboy french worked out where to click for the 'compatibility list' :)

which goes to http://www.dension.fr/boutique/actualites.cfm?code_lg=lg_fr

and the table there shows

HONDA
  • Jazz ,Civic (2002 – 2005), Accord (2003 – 2005)
  • S2000 (2004 – 2005)
    nouvelle Civic
    nouvelle Accord
    FR-V
    CR-V
  • La compatibilité concerne maintenant toutes les Honda récentes
La compatibilité concerne maintenant toutes les Honda récentes
translates to
Compatibility now relates to all the Honda recent

which I think means yes! :)

I had a quick trawl of the main UK sites which sell the ice>link but none of them mention that there is now one compatible with a 2006 Civic. We might need to fire off some emails to them to find out.
