you want to at leist get an oil change service done at an independant just to keep up your service history. service intervals are there for a reason and its in the interest of your car. i would get it done within the month it is due, so long as the oil level is kept toped up its not the end of the world though.

Time's a hard one to work out here.

Mileage-wise there will only be a guide from the dealer but you're talking 500-1000 miles before they'd complain about it being late. I had the Suzuki dealer tell me they'd look for it done within 1000 miles of the interval on my bike and that needs serviced every 4k at the most so you're talking like 25% leeway in that example.

Age is hard though as if the car can run for 12k between services to arbitralily say it needs done after 12 months regardless of mileage has never really made sense to me. Fair enough if that's what their warranty terms say but it's like they just say 12 months becuase a year is a round figure almost, so it makes it hard to judge what's a safe window to leave it for.

If it was me I'd say you'd want it done within a month or so of the date, but that's just my view. You'd only be looking at a problem surely if you ended up with a warranty claim and they decided to be arsey and blame it on the service lengths... (I'm not recommending leaving it, I just mean as you're under the mileage it would be bad luck more than anything if you did end up with a claim)

I don't think I've been much help...

Why sweat on it ?
Ring your dealer up and explain the situation and ask them direct if there is anything they can do.

At least then if they say bring it in asap after date you'll feel better. They might offer some financial help or replacement vehicle if thats the issue. Dont want to pry...so I'll leave it there ;)

I have left many a car for 4 - 6 weeks after the exact date, but always made sure that the mileage was still under.
As said, give your Dealer a bell to sort things out.

I had my car serviced last Tuesday by Trident Honda Ottershaw, they said that If the milage is below the service interval you are allowed 28 days leaway as far is time is concerned.

I hope this helps.

When I had my last Civic serviced at just over 2 years, but only 22K, they were surprised that I hadn't waited for the 25k to come up (which would have been 3 months later) !

As a result I only had the 2 year 'light' service that didn't include new spark plugs.

I've just had my civic serviced - its 14 months old and has done 15,000 miles. i wasn't able to get it serviced before this point which is why it was so late. I topped up the oil at a previous date but apart from that, nothing else had been done. Honda quite happily serviced it today as a first service at a cost of £198. Couldn't be happier!

I had Mine serviced by the Mileage but to be honest wish I had waited a couple of months. It drinks that much oil its always clean.

My old man went past his by 3000 miles and 3 months

But if im honest not that impressed with a Honda Service spraying grease on the battery terminals must be a hard job lol
