How long do you plan on keeping your car?

I'm curious how long do my fellow FN2ers plan on keeping their cars ?

I for one see me keeping at least over the next 3 years minimum, this will be my last naturally aspirated car!
All the motor's are now FI so guess will follow suit

I've spent to much on it to see sensible return at the moment so enjoying it and honing in on handling mods, after this I need to start saving for the next motor

I love ...

The engine
The sound
reliability
looks
handling
practicality

I Hate ...

Notchy gearshift
Lack of torque around town.
awful sound system

However I forgot all about the hates
once I'm on nice sweeping B roads :)

Aftermarket exhaust with good map should fix lower-mid range.
I got a catback & CAI it's not mapped at the moment, something is not right and it's bogging down also needs valve clearance doing

Going in this week for manifold, Dyno, coils and some tweaks that should resurrect it and bring it to life

Need some pops and bangs in my life
Needs mapping probably. Who is going to map your car?

Im the same, love all the things about her you do and hate the same ones too 😂 only other real gripe I’ve got is the ride quality, Clarkson was right when he said you need a spine made out of granite to tolerate it 😂
I'm hoping these coilovers fix things up.
Eibachs on 30mm were bouncy but very comfortable
all of the above, totally agree but , all is forgotten when you unleash the vtec banshee and the horizon races towards you and the faces of the Joey 's you take by surprise when the engine doesn't leep out the bonnet.
got some stickers that states vehicles In the mirrors are loseing, nuf said . No other car does it for me !
Had mine for 7 years and counting. In no rush to move on either having just battled fitting an RRC inlet manifold and Hybrid Racing CAI on a driveway at the end of November :ROFLMAO:

Nothing else really takes my fancy, at least that I could afford without silly finance arrangements, so I'll stick it out for a while longer.

Remap will help your flat spot issues, these engines really don't enjoy intake changes on the standard map. It should feel a little better at low revs too, though not by large amounts.

well regarding the lack of torque, after installing Japspeed 4-2-1 mani and Hondata i noticed a huge improvement.
as for the sound system, i have 4 JBL speakers with kenwood headunit and a sony subwoofer in the back, couldn't get any better!
I think the real acid test for me will be how well she does over winter, I can cope with all the niggles but I do anywhere between 40-80 miles a day some days for work and she’s my daily driver. If she’s no good then she’ll have to go 😢
Met a guy the other day with an '02 EP3.
He said he bought it new and expected to run it until it dropped - that was 18 years ago and it is still going strong at 140k miles.
Expect to keep my FN2 for some time, it's 10 yo come next March and with only 55k on the clock at the moment it will most likely do another 10 years as long as parts are still available.
Doing so little mileage now I'm retired that it should do me until I am forced to replace it.

It’s a shame Honda never released a 5dr version of the 8G CTR - whilst is it’s not short of criticism I do have a soft spot for the 8G shape, and would get a CTR in a heartbeat if it was a 5dr. Can’t seem to like the FK8 shape at all...

They did - The FD2 - which I would have snapped up pdq.
But in their wisdom kept it for Jap domestic market so any in UK are imports.

Every day is a school day... never see any JDM 5drs on Autotrader, and as you say if they do come up they’ll be gone super quick

You need to get it mapped Jay, it'll be running very lean, which is not good for the engine. Get yourself Hondata, put on the Group N map (which is still very lean) set up the active tune and it will sort itself out as you drive it or until you can take it to a tuner.
As for the car, I'll keep mine while I still love it, it's a shame emissions killed the true vtec engines 😔
Yeah deffo pjack sorting it this week hopeful wakes it up
Had mine 18 months now, can't see me selling it anytime soon unless it starts rusting badly, then it's gone.

I've done all the usual mods, springs, exhaust, manifold, ecutek, hks, quality sound system, lsd, mugen bodykit

I honestly can't think of a better car for the money, I think I'd get 6k tops for mine as it's blue, and I'm not sure what car I'd replace it with for 6k. Sure I could get something a bit faster, but nothing that will match the civic for reliability and that JDM look (with mugen)

Focus sts are not really any faster, handle like a boat, and drink fuel.

Vauxhall's, well, no way.

And vag - way too expensive - I bet a 56 plate S3 would cost more than my fn2 is worth, and wouldn't give me the same fun, they are way too refined.

I gotta agree the honda definitely has the grin factor. My Mrs absolutely detests the FN2 because of ride quality that's why I'm crossing my fingers the Yellowspeed coilovers offer some degree of compliance, I get that it won't be a merc

She wants me to get a golf R32 DSG lol
She can't drive manual

I had the Audi 3.2 V6 same engine as R32 that engine note was exquisite and delivery was smooth as silk. Comfort was good but handling was appalling wasn't agile

The gearbox started playing up, jerky when taking off and it was coming up to timing chain change which I thought was a couple of hundred quid but nope was looking at £1600+

Needless to say I swapped to FN2
