How long do you plan on keeping your car?

I'm curious how long do my fellow FN2ers plan on keeping their cars ?

I for one see me keeping at least over the next 3 years minimum, this will be my last naturally aspirated car!
All the motor's are now FI so guess will follow suit

I've spent to much on it to see sensible return at the moment so enjoying it and honing in on handling mods, after this I need to start saving for the next motor

I love ...

The engine
The sound
reliability
looks
handling
practicality

I Hate ...

Notchy gearshift
Lack of torque around town.
awful sound system

However I forgot all about the hates
once I'm on nice sweeping B roads :)

Thank you and lovely 2 cars there! Wish I could have kept my fn2! Had only done 52k miles and had new clutch and brakes fitted just a few months before sale!

Your red fn2 looks lovely.

I know the feeling! My FN2 just won't be used now so will need to be sold. I've put so much money into it and had so much work restoring things that it's heartbreaking to sell 😩 funnily enough I'm also paying less for insurance and road tax with the fk8 so doesn't make sense to keep the FN2 anymore.

I'm surprised you kept your fn2, did you sort out your gearbox problem? Your fk8 is lovely, I'd love one!
While I still have the FN2 it probably won't be for long. I'm paying more insuring the FN2 and more in road tax and fuel that it doesn't make financial sense to keep both. I never manged to totally sort out the gearbox issues but after changing the clutch, throw out bearing and flywheel it's much much better, doesn't grind anymore but sometimes will lock me out from changing gears every once in a while. I bought my FN2 for 4k and spent 4k in restoring it and I know id be very lucky to get even close to the initial purchase price 😆 put it did give me many many wonderful memories and always a huge smile while driving!

Had a drive in mine yesterday. Ended up in the rolling lands of Northamptonshire. Coming home though via Daventry, Banbury and Burford to home, the state of the chuffing roads leave a lot to be desired. Talk about an 'uncomfortable', 'Bucking Bronco' style ride on what should be OK A roads. Today my back feels like I did two hours on the fairground dodgems constantly being hit from side and behind.

I'm getting really tired of not being able to enjoy this car for what it is. The SUV surely cometh.
@Romcorin I Kno mate there's some days and conditions I love driving the car there are other days I hate it but we have an SUV it's very comfy and great around town but it's like driving a boat I don't trust it in corners but it's a cruiser
I’ve been thinking long and hard about this, I had planned on keeping the fn2 until it died, but the e10 petrol thing, rising tax and insurance costs etc.. are making it financially unviable as a daily driver so I’m starting to look to replace it while it’s still worth something. I still love the car and if it wasn’t for the above I would keep her but for me it’s just not doable anymore :(
All boils down to how much of a commute and how much outlay on petrol tax etc

I'm looking at a few years despite this as it'll cost more seeking out another car and sorting that to standard
When I do sell mine in a few years maybe, want to replace it with fk2 type r.

It’s not just the commute for me, I use her for work so I’m doing 50-60 miles a day and averaging a tank of fuel a week at least. I get x amount per mile back and I’m just about breaking even at the minute, I’m proper gutted, I’ve wanted an Fn2 ever since I first saw one and now I’ve got one I can’t afford it, same thing happened with my supra ☹ Looks like I’m destined for a rubber band/battery powered box ffs!
Or just buy a cheap commuter kick about
Keep the FN lol

I've heard this many many MANY times myself, it honestly drives me nuts 😆 my father said I'd look good in a Alfa Romeo (told him I wasn't rich enough to take a taxi everywhere since it probably would never start), my brother tells me I should buy a "more grown up car" (whatever that means?) And I've got friends that couldn't care less about their cars yet give me constant advice on what I should have bought becuase all they see is the status symbol in cars and price tag. None of them understand that connection we have to our cars or that it's our happy place.

The FN2 was my introduction to Hondas and I couldn't be happier with what it's given me. I decided I'm not selling the FN2 in the end, love it too much. Might turn it into a dedicated track car 😎
Ignore what anybody tells you about what car you should be driving, they haven't a clue mate

You don't see a fn2 everyday! That's what makes them extra special, most people are not even sure what kind of honda it is🤔.

I spend all day driving lumbering 4x4s, it's nice to get in something small and nimble for the commute home. ;)
