Hi All,

The drivers side speaker in my civic has given up the ghost - crackling like hell. I want to try and fix it this weekend if i can, but i have a slight dilemma....

Do i take this opportunity to upgrade both front speakers, if so, can anyone recommend a set that are easy to fit (very much a novice at this, but will give it a whirl), have better bass and are no more than £100.

Or... Do i just get a replacement Honda speaker and put some Dynamat in the doors to try and improve the sound a little?

Your input as ever guys, is gratefully received!

Lovely job Crowmar, did you need cross over etc....?

yes i put components in the front and 6.5 woofers in the back.

nice treble and mix of bass also got a inphase sub in the boot and an inphase amp. got the lot including wires for £300 by haggling ;)

cross over simply goes to the original speaker cable then takes the speaker into one input and the tweeter to the other.

Stupid question: why 6.5" woofers in the back and not coaxials? Is there a specific reason for this?

Phoned local Honda dealer today. A replacement speaker is £60+ inc VAT!

Think i will upgrade to Inphase and give the re-wiring a whirl! what could possibly go wrong : P

Its really easy mate. door card just pops off, tweeter surround pops off first,
then unclip the handle and lock bits.

Old speaker out, new speaker ring + speaker +crossover in. no soldering required

job done.
