Hi not certain if this will help anyone. But my 8th gen 2006 i shift battery went flat a day before my long trip south to Cornwall went and charge it for a few hours. Tried starting it the engine turned but wouldnt start. A key shaped warning light flashed on the dash and also siren was sounding off aswell so I thought it was just a reprogram the key. No it wasnf that it turns out that there is s fault that if you charge the battery or jump start with the key still in the ignition it makes the immobiliser not recognise the key. So i had to get a specialist out at the cost of £140 for ten minutes work just to get the immobiliser to recognise the ignition key. Is there an update to this problem?
