Hi,
Does anyone know of any good independants in the North East (Newcastle / Gateshead / North Tyneside area)? I am needing to replace rear brake pads and trying to avoid constantly paying out main dealership servicing and maintenance charges. I also have a 'malfunction indicator lamp' which has just appeared on the dash and been told a diagnostic check will cost £35 + VAT at a Honda dealership, just to diagnose the fault. Anyone know where I can get this done cheaper elsewhere?
Thanks,
Rich

You could try R&P Woods in Heaton, Newcastle...They seem to be a good independant garage. I have used them to service my wife's Nissan Micra at a fraction of the cost of dealership prices.

My Honda Civic is still in warranty but will definitely be considering them for work once it expires.

Seems Springfield run a monopoly up here :)

Thanks for the prompt feedback, appreciated. Yes, however did you guess, Springfield :) Assume R&P Woods in Heaton is a general independant? Does anyone know of a Honda independant? Thanks

do not use xo power tuning a lot of horror stories around within the hondanortheast forum

if you have aa cover they can come out and read the fault for free and tell you what is wrong

I would be also interested if anyone knows of a Honda indie, around here (Darlington) there is none that I know of. Lots of VAG, BMW, Merc & Alfa inidies, but not much else! Car is coming up to 4 yrs old, and now thinking of using a good indie, I cannot justify the cost of a Honda main dealer. My concern is if I experince problems with the car (warning light, sensor problem or electrical etc), I do not want to 'have' to go to a mian dealer to get the problem resolved. :popcorn2:

There's no Honda specialists around Darlo, been looking for one for 6 yrs to no avail. I ended up using Inline to do the odd job that I couldn't do.

To the OP, have you tried Revolution in Gateshead?

I'm not aware of any independant honda specialists, though just before i changed my last civic it was due a service, although i didnt have it done as changed the car, I had negotiated a discount from the normal price. ALWAYS ask for discount.
