A/C / ventilation / fans used to start up when I started the car but now all is dead...until I go round a roundabout or sharp junction when everything kicks in for a few seconds but then dies again on straight road! There is an audible ticking from the vents but no air! Other than being "de-bugged" in Oct 2013 in an attempt to get rid of a nasty smell, the A/C is exactly the same as it was when the car rolled out of Swindon almost 7 years ago. Has anyone experienced the "only works going round corners" A/C or can anyone suggest any solutions ?

If it still blows hot air, it should be okay, or not?

Same should be true if using A/C for cooling during summer times, right?

A/C - ventilation

After some searching on here, I changed the relay from the original Omron one to the new improved Mitsuba one. Unfortunately that made no difference, everything's still dead (A/C, blower, temperature control) and no air coming from the vents - just a "ticking" noise. Really really don't want to take it to a Dealer cos the upkeep of the car has already cost me a fortune. Maybe try an Air Con specialist for a check-up or service.

Read this first, loads of threads on AC issues most often either relay or shim replacement can fix it:

Had him looked at today and the diagnosis is a knackered heater blower motor. I'll need to price one from Honda or find a good scrapyard if the Honda one is too expensive (as usual)

Are you sure its not the fan transistor regulator? Do you experience the issue on all fan speeds? its quite common to fail and the fan may not work at all or only with some speeds...

Unknown mate. There wasn't a peep from the fan and no air at all coming from the vents so I'd left him (he's called Ginger) with Motor Tec in Bangor who do all sorts of automotive stuff. Their opinion was a dead heater blower motor. Brand new units are £230-odd from Honda but I've seen used and working replacements for £50 - £80 on fleabay. I love the car to death but it's difficult to justify Honda's prices.
