both standard ? if so the diesel has more low down torque....can't argue there as i've drove both, but the sound of the petrol as the revs rise is nice!!

each to there own.....horses for courses :) performance is the same anyway. just depends what you want from your car and possibly driving style...

good to see ya back ;)

Mine's better.

Also, I know what you're saying, I had a 2.2 prior to my 1.8 and if anyone offered me a like-for-like (an exact replica of my car), but with a diesel engine, I'd snap their hand off.

The diesel has low down torque from the turbo. Just need to bring the rev up on the 1.8 to get the same acceleration.

The only thing you'd of seen in my previous cars was my rear bumper.

? proofs in the pudding mate i have many times offered to let any standard ctr visit me for some genuine adult comparisons. the offer still stands and will always stand. there are at least 3 ctr owners on here who have been in my car and all accept what they saw. please dont be blinkered forced induction dervs have huge tuning potential

same old chestnut from the CTR owners, its an argument that I have seen too many times to care about...
Well modified diesels have a lot of potential and I believe they could beat a stock CTR, I am sure at some point it will be tested and put to rest... the same way that a well modified CTR will outrun a derv...
It's a case by case scenario - plus there are so many other variables involved!

I knew I should have gone for the diesel version. I only joined this forum after I bought my CTS 1.8. Really envy you 2.2 peeps. There is so much you can do in terms of power . The max i can do with the same sort or money as diesels is £300 remap, but for only 17bhp more.

Oh, another thing is, I read the word "derv" a lot. What does this term refer too. Sorry if that was a stupid and obvious answer
