Hi all, is it worth trying the K&N Apollo universal kit on a 1.8?

I know universal kits aren't usually as good as bespoke kits but since its a closed cold air intake shouldn't it be better than the 57i??

Yeah that definitely does seem like the better option. Just gotta hope the MAF sensor doesnt act up. cheers mate
However, remember - you know that the 57i works ! - and it's relatively cheap 'OEM' - and widely available on eBay or even herein, for even less ...

Dont get me wrong the 57i is great n all - i currently have one!! but its does come with its flaws. everytime i touch the cone or the feed pipe its always really hot which cant be a good thing.

There's a "Mk.2" 57i out now - among other improvements, there is a heatshield for the Cone ...

I'm currently looking for an R18 heat shield from the US, plus some of the 'gold foil' insulation as used on survival blankets ...

All of which means I'll probably end up buying the updated 57i and some gold 'bling' ! :facepalm: ...
