This is my second type R, had an 08 plate silber Fn2 for around 10 months when I was 21 couldn't afford it so had to move it on and have been moaning ever since, it was the one that got away:wink3:]

Finally back in one 08 plate again, 1 previous owner full service history just needed some TLC to sort the paint out.

First things first! cleaning time the grime on this car was insane I have never seen/felt a car so gritty/dusty!

snow foamed twice hoping it would help, it didn't

Next was Iron X and Citrus Tar/glue remover, The photos do not do this justice the tar/fallout on this car was horrendous, nearly used a whole bottle of them both going over it twice liberally!

took so long I decided to wait and finish off the next day

The next day it was time to finish removing the rest of the tar, I swear the previous owner enjoyed throwing tar on the car for a laugh

Then Clayed the whole car, still peeling a silly amount of muck off even after the previous cleaners

polished with autoglym SRP- needs a proper polish there is alot of swirling but planning on getting a full detail once I have sorted any paint issues out first

then waxed with collinate 476
and finally treated the windows to some Gtechniq G5 water repellent

The car looked really dull and lifeless when I bought it and now it is sitting happy in the sun and turning some heads :nerd:

Then today I decide I need to go and drive the car so off we went into the lovely hills of derbyshire, encounter many a nice car along the way, even bumped into a convo of blue MX-5 that all seemed heavily modded.

I want to do a fair few things to the car, But first its new tyres all round, the garage kindly changed some tyres to some extra terrible budget tyres with less grip that if i wrapped them in butter...... very helpful.............

a few bits need sprucing up before i spend money on mods.

new plates are in the post as these look horrendous and have the wrong flag on the plate (I wont say which dont want to upset anyone >:))

but in the new year I plan on getting a catback exhaust

then onto wheels/springs etc etc the usual stuff and looking forward to making the car my own

Finished the day by going to the burger bar having a massive burger and a nice cold pint! first 5 days of ownership have been wonderful, I am looking forward to many a years fun in this :D

Rang the insurance and I cant get insured with them with any mods on the car. So all mods will have to wait a year. Only cosmetic for now

I already rang other insurers and they wanted double the money even standard for my first year of ownership. But once I've owned the car a year would beat my current quote

The tyres on the car were budget and mis-matched so was about to buy some new tyres then a set of 17inch team dynamics came up for sale. Which cost me less than new tyres with some pretty much brand new toyos on them. They could do with a refurb but that can wait.

Got some tegiwa red wheel bolts which tie the wheels in nicely with the car

Handles wonderfully with 17s on. much prefer it to the 18s and the difference in grip with the new tyres is a complete joy!!

Then with the nice weather we have been having and the sun glaring down, I was getting miserable seeing the amount of swirl marks on the car. I had done my best with the little time I had to polish it and thought its time for a detail.

Messaged a few places all wanting £350+ which I couldn't quite justify

then stumbled across a place thanks to a suggested post on facebook. £180 for full detail turned out he is a friend of a friend and a real nice guy

anyway I will let the pictures do the talking

sitting looking all abit dull and lifeless

engine bay filthy

spruced up

Swirly swirly

looking much much better

The plastic at the back was looking sorry for itself

Next steps, need the alignment/tracking sorting out as I just haven't got around to getting it booked in.

and new brakes as these ones are shot with big grooves on the discs. Doesn't even hold the car with handbrake on, on a very slight hill.

Nearly made a mess of my trousers when I walked out the house and my car had rolled 10ft down the hill!!!!!! It’s now left in gear when parked

It looks like the car has scrubbed up nicely

If the handbrake isn't working then you should check the adjuster in the centre console, arm rest. You just need a long 10mm socket on an extension bar, an easy job and will stop your car rolling away.

I love the way the Milano Red looks after a polish :) Just give mine a quick TLC a few weekends ago. I did not do near as good of a job as the detail you got done, i can still slightly see swirls :(

Do you know which products/procedure was used?

thanks will have a look today :) brakes definitely needed though, they have a quite a large lip on the discs

to be honest under harsh LED light and getting upclose you can still see slight swirls in mine, Couldn't tell you the products used, I know its sealed with extreme elements but wax/polish etc I do not know. He did say he had to use his smaller machine because all his other pads were too aggressive and left holograms

Milano certainly turns heads when its clean

Looks great! Mine is on 17s too and I love how it feels.
I was abit unsure whether 17's would look silly. But i love the extra side wall, think it only works out at 3mm difference with tyres between 17 and 18.

I did find the ride altered a huge amount though in terms of handling and comfort

That was for anyone, I didn't know him before he quoted me.

I will admit, it is not up to the level of some detailers in regards to the very minor details

but that is reflected in the price

he is based in heanor
