Hi,

I have a major issue with my passenger door driver side wether strip.. (so I believe) whenever we get really bad rainfall the next day I have to empty out my drains otherwise it sounds like a titanic going down..
I have included a photograph of the gap between the strip and window. I think this is the cause because the other windows seem tighter against the strip.

Can anyone plz help me (hopefully before the next rainfall we get)

if the water is getting out of the drain holes in the door then it should not be a worry.
if it is getting back into the car and the carpet is wet then it is.

if you park on a slope maybe park the other way round and see if that affects it.

That weather strip just pulls up. Just roll the window all the way down. Try removing it and seeing if you can reset the inner one to help.

I will try this tomorrow as I was scared to break it earlier

Ye the water comes out of the drain hole only when I remove the plug though.. (not sure if it's suppose to bleed though the plug) it's only happening on the 1 door (the one behind drivers side)

Plug? There should be drain holes on the bottom of the door. Ill see if i can find a picture.

called honda about the same issue on my civic 2006. they just told me it was a design fault and to remove the rubber bungs from the bottom of the doors so the water can drain out.

Hi Just to inform you that - the drainage holes in the bottom of all the doors tend to get blocked, they are covered by rubber caps which are supposed to let the water out - problem is they block up. I have removed the caps from my civic, cleaned the area and injected waxoyl into the door.

Most likely the little rubber plugs that cover the drain holes at the bottom of the doors, these rubber plugs can get blocked with dirt very easily and will stop water from escaping through the drain holes, there was actually a bulletin from Honda years ago to remove them.

my 8G 5 door was 2010 so don't remember seeing these on the rear dorrs.

I was thinking of permanently removing all the rubber plugs and trying my best to clean the inside with compressed air and not sure about the wax thing? Does that protect it even more from rust and where can I find this?

I love the civic but man it can be a royal pain in the butt.

Here is an update on the leaking driver side passenger door..

After taking all your advices on removing the plugs and checking the rear window and doing my best to keep then unplugged I have successfully stopped the swooshing buildup of water!!!!!

Also my civic just passed its first MOT with Me as the new owner!
