Hi, I've just installed some 501 LEDs into the map lights. I've noticed that both packages run hot, pretty much like the original bulbs. I know the LED itself shouldn't be hot, but should the package itself? I'm assuming its the resistor inside that's heating up. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Thanks.

Never really had the map lights on long enough for them to get hot TBH, but yeah, the resistors can get pretty toasty if the LED's are left on for a while.

Doubt it's anything to worry about.

Ok thanks. I was just a bit concerned as I expected them to be cold.

Those LEDs are running at a higher voltage than designed. That's why are so cheap but powerfull. Heat will dramatically reduce their lifetime.
