£41k list. I didn't pay that... Ex-BMW manager's car so I've got the 5 year service pack on it.

Comfortable and quiet when you want it to be, and goes like a stabbed rat when you want it to. I was massively impressed with the 6 cylinder diesel. It sounds like a petrol when you press on, but on the cruise you can barely hear it. Awesome amount of power to it and so so smooth!

Luxury pack seemed more refined to me than the 320d M-sport I had a go in and the ride in this was much more compliant, the seats were better and the carpet was thicker, which is what I was after. It still firms up nicely when you press on though it doesn't have VDC, it doesn't seem to need it with it not being on the standard M-sport suspension.

It'll do the cruiser thing nicely and also hits the Q car marker quite accurately too. I pick it up in a few weeks when the FK2's new owner collects it, which gives me time to get my private plate transferred.

Sad to be letting the FK2 go, but it wasn't the car to be doing the commute I've been doing in it unfortunately.

(Yes, spotted the calipers. I've been assured that if they don't brush off and paint up well, then they will be replaced.)

Looks awesome. 3 Litre and 4-wheel drive - gonna be fun! Would love to try the petrol version to see what Vanos is like when you hit 4K.

Cheers all, I'm pretty pleased with it.

Looks good. Does it have the upgraded speakers? The standard 4 speaker set up is pants
BMW Advanced Loudspeaker System. Chuff knows why the manager would have spec'd that over Harmon Kardon. Maybe it was coming down to the price limit.

You've lost me there?!
Type in a phone number and put a pound sign in front:wink3:

Looks nice and hope it does the trick for you otherwise it will be another car in 9 months. I have to admit I think I would fancy an auto next but for sure I could not buy a cvt auto that revs to 4k then transmits the power though to the wheels but I am sure this will be a proper auto.

I have had a quick look again at 1 series and a class as the tourer is bigger than we need plus is 3 years old next april but really don't want diesel plus we don't do the milage to warrant one. The other major flaw is the worst car I ever owned by far was a merc so really puts me off German because the dealer was not good either or Mercedes UK and this was when a £1k part failed in less that a thousand miles 2 times of the trot which was a common fault. Problem I have in the end i chopped it for an EP3 and having owned a few Hondas I have never had one throw me a bill due to a mechanical failure which I like but will admit on the gadets and cabin quality they are behind the gemans. I know they are not all the same but you now how it is when something cost you a lot of money due to reliability and it really does put me off even though I do look.

Have to admit nice car and hope you enjoy and I am sure it will be very pleasurable on the commute but something tells me you might need a vtec monster for a weekend toy :wink3:

VTEC weekend toy next summer or the year after is the plan. That will make me keep this if I can mess about with the weekend toy.

Insurance is £120 more for the year than the CTR at just over £500 on Compare the Market. Not tried any specialists yet. The road tax is £80 a year less, so it almost balances out.

The engine note and power delivery is very un-diesel like. It's a peach of an engine.

I've got a few friends and people I know who use these as a work vehicle, well over 40k miles a year and they carry a lot of heavy equipment, safes bolted in the back etc., the cars get the odd knock (they're normally painted white...) and they just lap it up and carry on, mechanically speaking. Fingers crossed, but I've still got 27 months and unlimited miles on the warranty.

The advanced loud speaker package has the large speaker behind the I-drive screen and tweeters in the A pillars. Can't see them on yours buddy, maybe it's just my phone not picking them up.

We have the harmon Kardon system in our 1 series and they are brilliant. The standard speakers are shocking.

Maybe it doesn't. The pic on the BMW configurator shows my door speakers, so assumed it had and it had bass/treble and a few other options on the sound menu and I was under the impression the standard speaker system was just a preset equalizer setting. [smilie=noeyedear-s:

It sounded fine to me, maybe it was the additional sound deadening that I'm not used to.

Hit me up on PM with a reg number / chassis if you want it checking out loxy. We do the work on them to make them approved, it's sometimes nice to cast your eye on any work that's been done.

Good car that. The x drive grip is immense

Did you pick up the BMW John or have you been tempted by something else? I have to say we may be trading in the Tourer for the wife as we have a deal in place for 20% of a brand new CRV EX with metallic pain and aero pack which makes it a good deal as the hit on price for driving it of the forecourt would not really exist. Problem is we do around 9k a year so do we go for a diesel auto (£29.6k) and pay more or go petrol manual (£26.4k) or stay with the Civic?
