I had a rather funny referal.

One of our brokers rung up requesting if it was ok for one of our clients to add a Nissan Skyline GT-R to his policy that has had an LPG conversion?

Made me laugh hahaha

Right so trade value of a skyline is only around 2/3k (standard) and probs does low 20's mpg, lpg conversion costs over a grand and will probs be around the same mpg but cheaper cost for fuel

& despite what you say it DOES affect the performance, maybe not dramaticly.

It's not financially beneficial what the client had done

Anyway you guys really don't get the humour so dont worry

I agree lol don't buy a skyline and make it run on lpg it's just wrong

If you can't afford to run it dont buy it, what my misses says to me lol

Let me get this right as a person in the know you are saying the trade value of a late R34 GTR is on £2-3k?

Who is to say the current owner shelled out for the LPG conversion?

There was something on the forum when a joined about a LPG FN2 being tested at silverstone with a normal FN2 (around the time all the R's did a lap of honour). The guy that drove both the cars was a professional driver and he said in his opinion the LPG out performed the standard.

I have never drive an LPG car myself but its not uncommon for performance cars to be converted although its not inline with traditional methods of tuning and isn't the norm people wanting to use it as a daily drive and still cover high mileage might find it works for them.

I would certainly fork out a grand to keep my FN2 if my mileage increased.
Have any of you ever driven an LPG converted "performance" car?

I seen a few cars tested on dyno with lpg conversions and got the same power..albeit some were within 5bhp down..even still..

What did the client pay to get it fitted? Or was it already installed? How many miles does the client do?

Plus it would increase his range.

Let me get this right as a person in the know you are saying the trade value of a late R34 GTR is on £2-3k?

Somehow I think not... Definately not a good condition R34 GTR... Friend recently bought an R32 GTT and that was more than that!!!

I'm with the dude starting the thread. Decreasing running costs on a GTR, really? The 2-3k is a fair bit off though if it's a R34.

It depends on how many miles he does and how long he intends to keep the car.

LPG is approx 50% the price of petrol so there's a potential saving of around 65p a litre or £2.92 per gallon.

So for someone using 60 litres a week, that's a saving of £39 per week.

Over 1 year that's £2028 saved.

That's twice the conversion cost saved in the 1st year!

Exactly, that's what worried me, the op says 2003 GTR so can only be a late registered R34! I think I need to know which insurance company it is so I can avoid it!

An R34 GT-R is worth at least 20k.
R33 GTR anything from 8-12k.

I've never ran LPG but was under the impression that if correctly installed and engine remapped for the LPG it was better performance?

Am quite tempted to get it for my civic...
