hi all is there a way of knowing if your car is fitted with LSD ??? i own a 10 plate ctr purchased in april 2010 so will my car be fitted with lsd ????? is there some way i can go look for myself to see if it is fitted with lsd bearing in mind im not mechanicaly minded

I've read some were cats from may 2010 onwards have them, but I'm not sure,

Other way is Ho I a car park and get it to wheel spin, two lines means you don't have it, and one line means yoh have It, I think I've got it the right way around , :/

Cars manufactured in and after April 2010 had a LSD. I.e. the last production run.

If you wheelspun with a LSD it would leave two black lines. That's the point of it. When one wheel starts spinning, due to its mechanicals it sends power down both driveshafts. That's why you corner better.

With an open diff it sends power to the wheel that is easiest to turn, which is the wheel that is already spinning.

Dealer will be able to tell you probably from the reg, but definitely the VIN. They need to be able to tell on the parts system when you have, say for example your gearbox breaks, so they can order the right parts for replacements.

To be honest, if it was registered in April I doubt it.

where on the windscreen all i have is my vin number and that says 10 ??? is this the number your referring to ????

well... it does matter, if you was to say, sell your car privately, im sure that might a question the buyer might ask

To be fair they are both valid points.
I guess were i'm going with this is: 'keener' drivers would know if the car had a slippy diff after the first wet round-about or quick pull from a T-junction. :worms:

Come on guys...is it really that hard to know that do you have an LSD ? Trash your car around corners and youll find out. There is a huge difference in tight cornering if you have it.

Jesus, i think that even my girlfriend knows if theres an LSD fitted on a car
