Hi all

Just been quoted over £600 for my next service from main dealer. According to the book it should be my 75k mile one or something along those lines, but I've only actually done about 35k, I said something like "***, how much!!" to them and after hearing my mileage they said that they could do it for £190 (bit of a difference there)

Question is this I've always gone to the main dealer as I've always thought it looks better to have main dealer stamps, do you agree or do people not really bother as long as it's been looked after?

Think there is an independent Honda specialist in Warrington, can't remember the name of them at the moment.

Can anyone recommend me a trustworthy garage in the Wigan area?

Thanks
Martin.

Yeah TDI North sounds right, think I've seen postings on here about mods and rolling road sessions etc. Anyone used them for a service?

What were they going to do for £600 that they can do for £190. £600 sounds like a complete overhaul service with engine oil, spark plugs, trans fluid, coolant, valve clearance check and brake fluid change. Still it should be cheaper.

I had a look in the servicing book to have a look at what they would be doing and it didn't seem a lot at all defo not worth what they were going to charge me. Pretty sure that they weren't going to touch the plugs or anything expensive like that.

I'm assuming the cheaper price is just a very simple service (Oil, filter and quick scan of everything).

They should be doing whatever is listed in the service schedule. There is a copy in the forum wiki.
I paid last year for 2 years servicing and 2 mots with springfield honda and it was alot cheaper than 600!
If out of warranty it's sometimes not worth paying the dealers premium. Shop around other local dealers or send Tdi north an email.

I never go to a main dealer, servicing is not difficult and so the apprentice will do it. You just really pay for the stamp.

I would always go to a specialist garage. If TDI North is your local go there. I've had all me servicing done at Eight Speed in Darwen since its my local.

I would rather buy a car that has been serviced by these places than the dealer.

I used them in November last year, my car is on a 57 plate and had about 25k at the time. Total price was about £306 but I needed new spark plugs and my valve clearances doing; would be cheaper if you don't need one of or both of those. That's something that you probably won't know for sure until the day though, when they can have a look themselves.

Best to just give them a call (TDi-North - 01925 289100) and speak to them over the phone.

I get the impression that main dealers try it on, dropping the price considerably when a cheaper alternative is pointed out. Does this mean they just charge less or do they do an incomplete service ?

When I brought mine it came with 4 years free servicing thats the only reason i take it to the dealer if i didn't have that i would go else where.
Pretty much the same here. My last service under the plan is this year. After that I'll shop around though Hepworth Honda have been excellent so far.
