Hey. I'm looking for an air intake for my 2007 1.8 5dr Civic with the R18A2 engine.

However the market is very limited... I need a air filter with a full lid to cover it up for MOT inspections in Denmark...

Here is my idea: I found the MST intake for Gen 9 civic 1.8...

I realize that the engine is the same as the Gen 8... So would the air intake fit my Gen 8? :D

Thats a US model engine bay. Different layout/design/space.
You'd want side by side comparison/pics of the engine bay before buying that.
Must be more than one cold air intake.
Try skunk 2, weapon r, takeda attack ?

I will try to compare.

I can't find a single CAI for the euro mk8 Civic that's not an open filter layout (illegal in my country). There must be a lid/cover.

Theres K&N apollo systems...among others...

There is also BMC CDA.

Cant give any rating, but they are true enclosed cold air intakes.
BMC ACOTASP-24 is available on amazon

That's great. Thanks! I will def. take a look at that universal CAI K&N Apollo... Or even go for the (very expensive) BMC!

Unless you can do something about the MAF sensor in the airbox with a MAF tube/adaptor + silicon that wont need ECU recalibration, the BMC might be the sensible option.

Can you explain what you mean by that? There is a mount for the MAF sensor on the BMC but not on the K&N?
Doesnt lool like the apollo, being a universal kit, comes with a MAF sensor housing.
You can of course get a MAF housing of the required size from many places.
But the MAF sensor is tuned for a specific housing length, path, inner diameter.
The universal kits are left for you to route and make work.
Thats fine if you can get a remap to get the MAF sensor recalibrated (which it may not need if you're lucky).
But a bad MAF reading would mean running rich or lean when out of closed loop.

I think K&N might do the 57i among others that might be a car specific kit.
Some of their other enclosed kits are £500+, so they wanna be.
But they dont make finding the model specific details easy for these.
Look on their website for the other enclosed kits they do now.

I see.. Thanks!

I like parts that are bolt on plug'n'play :D So I might stick with the BMC ACOTASP-24. They look and sound pretty good on the videos. But I can't seem to find out if these are compatible with the car's MAF sensor? I don't want to screw something up without sensors or having trouble with check engine lights...
