the law did change last year
but that is only for aftermarket hid's
factory fit are still legal and the guy in the garage needs to understend that

I had argument about it with a local garage as he kept saying my car was gonna fail and he was looking forward to failing all cars that went in as he hated hid lights
needless to say once he re read the new updates he had to admit he was wrong
but my car never went there for mot anyway
I argued with him about the bulbs as he tried telling me that he will never pass it due to the bulbs ? But I’ll polish the lens and check the bulbs are in correct and go back and see what they say and if I get no joy I’ll try another garage

On the cheap hid bulbs the lens pattern markers burn off, its like a black finish on the glass hid lamp, my guess this has burned off causing the mot failure. Just buy a new set of cheap lamps or better quality lamps
Had them out and pattern markers seem fine refitted them and polished the outside ? Gonna take it back see what they say and if not I’ll take to Honda and see wat they say ? Can’t see anything wrong with it or different to last year ? Thanks for your help

And it passed ! Different MOT guy this
Time and he said all was good !

Thanks for your help
Report the guy to the testing garage. He obviously has a personal issue with HID and that needs to addressed by the testing station. Threaten to report them to VOSA if they don't take some action to correct his behaviour.

Also, I'd ask for a refund of any re-test charge and for petrol / diesel in having to re-turn. You probably won't get the petrol, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Also, the more hassle you cause, the more likely they are to have a word with the bad tester.
