Honda make the Mugen, they sell the parts...I wouldn't like to have to try and convince an insurance company the £1500 spoiler on the back of the car is OEM.
All insurance companies are different but generally most if not all have a very wide statement that you should declare anything that would make the car more attractive to thieves.

Sorry, perhaps I should elaborate, I spoke to the insurance company about this, it's an "optional extra OEM part". As its sold from honda specifically for my car they would cover it. Admiral have been pretty cool over this, they are happy to cover optional extras sold by honda. They also sell, lots of different alloys, type r recaro's and if I want to be really obtuse a whole 2.0 type r running gear, all that would fit in my 1.8.
OEM suggests originally fitted. The Mugen wing was not and I'm guessing that is how most underwriters would view it, especially given it's astronomical cost compared to most boot spoilers. At the end of the day I'm not trying to disagree, your car is spot on and I know it's your pride and joy, so I know you wouldn't cut corners protecting it.
Just stating another opinion that the OP may want to consider, or may not.
Honda sell them, well a few dealers do.Honda make the Mugen, they sell the parts...

Mugen is completely independent from Honda, has never been owned by Honda etc. It was started by the son of the then Honda president, but has never been part of the Honda company.
The part is made by Mugen and a selection of authorised Honda dealers can sell them and fit them.
Let me put it this way, if it was an OEM part you could walk into any Honda dealership and order one, and you can't. Only in the dealerships listed here:
Mugen Euro - Links
Admiral may very well insure you for it problem free, but telling them it is an OEM or even an optional fit part is skating on very very thin ice.
I did. Said I'd keep nipping on to see if things improved etc.I thought you had flounced?![]()

Just popped on last night to update my project thread.
That very document actually says "we will not cover any modifications unless they form part of the manufacturers standard specification or are optional extras that we have agreed to cover" - page 11Greenlight definately replace modded parts with modded parts - I had this discussion a while ago.
I would be very surprised if an "OEM" spoiler was replaced with a specialised Mugen spoiler though.
Reading the Admiral policy it states:
"We will only pay the cost of replacing parts needed for your car to meet the manufacturers specification"
http://www.admiral.com/policyDocs/ADM.pdf
A Mugen spoiler is not required to meet that, declared or otherwise.
I suppose you takes your chances and deal with it if the need arises but I know what I'd be doing...
