Firstly what a stunning looking 350z and secondly what bad luck to have a nice car already but hit it's limit on spends and repairs , i'm at the same sort of pathway at the minute i've had my type s nearly 12 months and love it but loved my old 5 door till some chump wrote it off but although it felt a step up i've replaced all the shocks springs brakes and discs a new drivers seat new grill new headlights and it still looks like a 2007 car with supermarket trolley dings here and there i've also just fully serviced it with Honda fluids and a pipercross panel filter and the car is still worth the same money it was 12 months ago and so i don't want to spend any more on it (there's a decent set of bola wheels i have my eyes on) so i'm now thinking maybe i should just buy a type r and put the bolas on that and know that the car is worth the spend plus those Nissans look really tempting haha
Thank you! I'm over the moon with this car, so excited and proud to have her. I'm looking forward to showing her off tomorrow at JapShow Finale tomorrow!

And your Type S dilemma definitely sounds like my own, although not as severe. They're great cars, but they're sadly not as exciting or special as the Type R or Nissan Z etc. I'm of the opinion that we should make the most of what little time with have on this planet! If it's within your means, get the car you really want and enjoy it!

That’s one of my dream cars to own along side a dc5 integra, Mazda mps.
Always welcome here, don’t have to not have a civic and disappear. We know who you and enjoy you forum company, so stay in touch and your knowledge off late might help others still.
Same, absolutely a car from my dream list! Feels so nostalgic having seen the Fairlady Z in Gran Turismo and other racing games since I was a kid. I feel like I've made a childhood dream come true by finally owning one!

And thanks for the kind words, I will definitely drop by from time to time and hope I see some of the community at future events!

Nice swap.
We can still make it an honorary Civic at Simply Jap, depends who you want to park with.
Thank you! Simply Japanese is definitely one of the events Tridi and I would like to frequent. It would be nice to join you guys again, although I'll have to park on the end so I don't ruin the photo line-up!

By the way, do you still have the RX-8 or was that was your car before your FN2? @Tridi is considering getting one in the future so I'm sure he has some questions for you!
No, I moved that on some years ago. In truth, as nice as it was to look at, i was underwhelmed by the car itself. The fuel economy was embarrassing for the level of performance, it would only return about 250 miles from a tank, and it used (by design!) a litre of oil evey second fill up (so about 500 miles). Given the oil had to be to Mazda's specification it obviously wasn't cheap of course. The car was fairly quick, but gave so little feedback through the steering i often felt i may as well have a PlayStation pad rather than a steering wheel. So when all was said, the pure weight of cost, to give less power than a Type R and feel like i was uninvolved and unexcited made it one of only a handful of cars I regret buying. For the 16k it cost, I could and should have bought so many better options.

Wow, thanks for the info! Very good to know. I think he will probably look at other cars now, unless we somehow have the space to keep the Z, Civic and an RX-8 as a project/track car!

My Z has the earlier non-'RevUp' VQ35DE engine and so isn't too much of an oil drinker, although it still needs regular checking and topping up. The RX-8 sounds far worse than even the RevUp engine!

There's a good reason you see so many of them going cheap, maintenance is much more frequent and critical than in most other Jap cars. They burn the rotor tips out if they get low on oil.

If I were looking for a N/A JDM car to daily and also spank round the track (but didn't fancy doing it in my FN2) I'd look at something like an S2000 or a DC5. The Mazda 6 MPS is probably the best performance car Mazda made if he's set on that manufacturer. Turbocharged options would be things like the Skyline GTR, MR2 (JDM had a 2.0 turbo version, we didn't get that) and possibly an Evo. Supra is too heavy to really compete with the Skyline, which is why as much as I loved mine (1990 MA70 shape 3.0 Turbo manual) for racing the Skyline is always going to win.
