I know this is another gearbox item but this is my problem...

The biting point is on the floor, Reverse gear grinds in when selected.

When accelerating hard in 1st in wont change to 2nd unless the revs drop to 6.5k ish otherwise it lightly grinds and then pops in at 6500rpm ish

2nd to 3rd works unless its warm and it takes a couple of attempts at high revs

When in 3rd and in the rev lights range it will will go in but feels very stiff same for 4th into 5th

I have been to honda Twice over the past 6 months they say nothing is wrong, even poutling round at 20 mph it will grind into 2

Also when its warm or in city traffic foot flat down on the clutch selecting 1st makes the car move like it wants to drive and indeed without the brake on will move.

Decided to share this as Im really annoyed how rubbish the box is (08 ctr 18,000 miles)

My fear is that Honda will say its not covered under warranty, (Booked in for thurs 26th Oct). I have been refused a warranty claim for brake discs as both 1st and 2nd set warped blamed on me the driver.

Oooh :( pleasures of a hydraulic clutch...

Took me a while to get used to the hydraulic one over the cable..

As for the brakes i can see what there saying, if you nrake hard and then leave your foot on the brake warming the discs, it can warp them, had it happen on the MG...

They "say" there is nothing wrong with it but the biting point is just getting lower, Im sure you can bleed the system seen as its hydraulic

The brakes issue is made the driver side pads inside and outside wear even, the passenger side wears to the bare metal on the outside while the passenger inside pad has similair wear to the drivers but is tapered from top to bottom its my 5th set of pads in 10k really due to the 1 from 4 been worn

I can live with the brakes just need it to drive nice.

The car has been in since monday and they say they cant fault it, well they would.

I feel the clutch and operating system is inadequate for the car also but cars today are built for a profit not longevity anymore.

Is that passenger side caliper seizing or seized with that wear pattern ?

The biting point getting significantly lower would indicate a worn clutch or a fluid leak. Fluid should be easy to spot you usually get an area around the leak covered in a light fluid which dust usually sticks to etc. Never had alook at my "r" as it is my daily driver but i have a MK1 escort with hyd clutch in the bellhousing with slight weep and you can see this seeping out so should n't hard to locate. My money would be the clutch itself either way it shouldn't be so clutches are not a new thing

But the brakes that is seriously wrong does it pull or do you get one wheel hot to the touch over the other, they could be warm but not too hot to touch also they should be even. do the wheels spin by hand ?

I know what your saying the point would get lower with a wearing clutch, however there is no slipping or any other signs its worn.

The wheels spin freely just seems like the caliper sticks and pulls the outside pad in but does nothing with the inside pad

Then the fluid level isn't adequate anymore. When there isn't enough fluid in the system, the cluth-disengaging-mechanism isn't fully operational. It's the same with the brakes. You really should get to your garage as soon as possible, before any damage is done to the clutch and the gearbox. Pronto!

UPDATE 2 - Clutch friction material is "ok ish" but the pressure plate springs are loose which might explain somethings, just waiting for Honda UK to decide
