Hi all,

I just wanted to show some pictures of my modded air box that Relic has kindly shared with us.

Relic has helped me enormously with this sending me photos of where to trim and how to do it basically.

Another massive thankyou to Mick!!!:):):).

The pictures are during where it shows the fins broken off and then siliconed and then finally taped up.

I am going to put it on on the weekend.

Looking good!!!

Any gains to be had here? I know Relic's last work on this was unfruitful.
I did mine on my CTR.

The induction sound is far 'beefier'!

Look at FMIC better or not thread.

It shows on there the volumetric efficiency. It is 2-3% better at wot and can improve miles per gallon.

I will report back when I put it on, on the weekend.
good work ian!

Cheers Lee,

When your leg is better are you going to have a go? It wasn't that bad really, just took a long time.
maybe im concerned slightly that it might be too much air for the map tho

The ECU should cut boost instead.
Should be the torque limiters keeping the car in check as you should hit these before the boost limiter.
Thats what happens on the honda and tdi map anyway.
Mass airflow remains the same at the same outside air temp/pressure.
MAP drops as less boost is required.
Would there be a benefit to the 1.8?

That is a smart job on the box alot of time and prep!

That's all right, Dezi - but don't tell Lee !!!
Back to topic...............

I am worried about the tape coming off and going into the turbo!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:.

However I have a cunning plan.

How about spray over the tape with an enamel based spray paint- I have bought some black halfords enamel paint.

If I give the tape a couple of coats then the paint would adhere to the inperfections and bond the inbetween bits of the tape. I am worried about this as some of the tape is peeling already.

My thinking is that the paint would bond the tape together, giving extra strength, thus stopping the peeling.

There would also be a nice smooth finish for the air flow???

What do you think people???

Would do you think Mick???
