I have been wanting to change my car for a while now and I thought the new civic would fit the bill perfectly. However now that I have seen it and hated it, my mind is going in other directions. Tempted to buy an Audi A1 S-Line. Just wondering if anyone had any comments/advice/insults for me?

If you hate it don't buy it, look somewhere else until you find a car you want. It's so subjective and personal no-one on a forum will be able to change what you like or don't.

It isn't the same category and A1 is very small compared to the Civic !

My preference goes to Civic (a lot of room inside and finally, I find it to be very nice and in particular black or red color)

I drove the 118i with the new automatic gearbox (8 gears) and I didn't like it
At start, the car always did a forward jump of about 5 meters and it needed a lot of benzine (only in the economic mode, it may be possible to drop down consumption near official value but then, the engine has no power!)

The internal room space is mutch under what the civic proposes.
About road noise, it is very silent and the confort is good too. Both are very closed together.

About the price! (many extras have to be added to get near what the civic has. To compare (in euro), the new civic exclusive cost about 27800€ including automatic gearbox. The BMW Serie 1 with the same options cost near 38000€ !

You never know, maybe when I see the civic in real life I might actually like it. Keeping an open mind.
Possibly, I also found the colour made a difference. Have a look in person and more importantly take it out for a drive. The A1 is too small in my mind though.

Yep, I don't like the BMW 1 series either.

Was planning to test drive one the other day but after sitting inside it I didn't bother! The interior just didn't do it for me and it seems a lot smaller than the Civic.

Just ordered the new 2012 Civic 2.2 EX GT in White Orchid.

Should have it by mid February.
