I took delivery of my Civic 2.2iDTEC EX GT on thursday, replacing my iCTDi EX.

All I can say is in the few days since I got it, the car is fabulous I was dubious about the looks etc at first and would it be any better than my beloved civic it was replacing.

But it is, the whole build quality is so much better you could be excused in thinking it was built in Japan. The ride is so much better visibility much improved not perfect but much better plus the rear camera is a big help.
The look of the car when you see it in person is actually breathtaking, there is still nothing like it on the road. The interior layout switches sat nav etc is so much better its obvious a lot of thought has gone into it and Honda has defintely listened to owners of the previous model. The gear change is absolutely fabulous short throw and slick like the superb S2000 its still early days and I will write more soon, but in all honesty this car has defintely evolved for the better, just when you think it could not get any better it has. Do not believe some of the negative press such as the what car test etc this 9th gen civic blows away the competition.

Mine is polished metal and it looks superb I will post some pictures soon.

You will not be disapointed with the car, I have read loads of bad reviews, most of them are rubbish. When you start to drive it you will soon notice the difference and so far have not had any niggles at its better than I could have hoped. As I said much nicer than focus or golf, both of which I looked at.

I drove the 2.2 dtec ES on friday to Leeds and back from London, about 550 miles round trip.

Having driven thousands of Hondas, different civics, petrol diesel etc, I wasn't expecting anything amazingly different tbh.

First opinions of the drive? at motorway speeds (around 70mph) the road and engine noise were noticably lower than previous Hondas, not just the civic. Its a diesel, they aren't silent but then again, it certainly didn't sound like the usual tin bucket full of ball bearings and was certainly quieter at tick over and at speed than the previous oil burner. I even managed to drag just over 60 mpg out of it and thats with my Matt Neal-like driving skills on the M1!

The seating was perfectly comfortable, noted by the fact I drove the whole return leg, door to door without feeling the need to stop, OR creaking like an arthritic old man when I got out.

The display tells you all you need, at eye level, the cruise worked fine (when you get the chance yo use it) and all in all it was all that i'd come to expect.

The 2012 Civic IS a new car. It may not be a revolution and in image, its an evolution BUT, it is miles ahead as a package overall than the 8th Gen imo. You'll get used to the rear of it and anyway, I dont spend a heck of alot of time staring at the back of my car, thats for the mugs behind me to do.

Lol..

That will be that hater's that hate because their 'new' 8th Gen is now out of date ;)
I realised after posting that when quoted, it sounded a bit 'Ray Winstone' but wasnt meant that way. Jokingly, if you dont drive a 9th gen, you get to sit behind it and look at it, If you do, you dont care what it looks like as you are at the other end.

I have completely fallen in love with the 9g civic, each day I learn something else, I am in Stockport so if any local members want to have a look then thats not a problem. The only downer is the premium price for the idtec exgt

I will wait at least a year, to see what is wrong with this model. As I just can't believe, that it's good, as Honda didn't fix anything with the previous model facelift. However, it may be better, but like I said many times it's ugly and no cure for that:(.

I took delivery of newCivic 1 week ago(2.2ES in Polished Metal). the car is awesome,a huge leap forward from the 8G. For those who think this a facelift of the 8G go to NETCARSHOW.com and look at the Honda Civic EU version. Some facelift.

ksuuk,

I find your post a bit odd, its as though you are hoping there will be faults with the 9th Civic. I have had both 1.8 vtec and 2.2ictdi of previous model 8 gen civic, which I loved. I agree there were some areas that needed to be addressed, but the car was such a leap forward in design and driver harmony a real pleasure and lets be honest there was nothing on the road like it. The 9g has moved on loads and mine so far has proved to be better than I could have expected, I have had no irritations or bugs at all. I think Honda has listened to owners of 8g civics I was personally contacted on many occasions, and I do believe they have taken stock and not rushed the development of the 9g. The more you look at it the more you appreciate the styling look at the beautifully crafted front and rear wheel arches. When you drive it you realise just how far the Civic has come from the early 70's. This is now a premium car and lets be honest who would want a boring focus or golf. Driving is believing.
