Hi All, I'm in need of a new condenser for my 1.8ES hatch. I had a mobile air-con engineer come out to re-gas and check a short while ago.
He used a gas sniffer and found a small leak from the condenser which will obviously need changing.

I've spent some time reading past posts and doing internet searches and finally came up with this: https://www.autoairconparts.co.uk/car-air-conditioning-condenser-aircon-radiator-honda-civic-hatchback-05-11-1-8-petrol-manual-automatic-sep-2005-to-2017-part-16-1335.html

My question for you is, in view of the relatively low price would this be a reasonable buy? Has anyone bought one of these?

Any thoughts/comments gratefully received.
Thank you.

When I replaced mine a few years back is wasn't much more than your link. Mine was sourced from our local auto-factors, via my local indi so I don't have a URL to share.

The one you've listed comes with a drier (good) and has a 2 year warranty so you'll little to loose. It's compatible with my old car too, part# 80110SMGE02

Comparing with other online outlets, the price is a little high provided these include VAT (they say they do) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/80110smge02 and https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/oenumber/80110smge02.html

If I were you, then I'd also try your local auto factors as they'll be in the ball park on price and you'll help keep them in busy. Which turns out to be handy when you need parts ASAP.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I bought something very similar, for about £60 from ECP. You want one with the drier included, and this looks on the money but check with the supplier that it fits your car, or though they are usually fairly universal.

If you are patient you can replace it without taking off the front bumper and only have to take off the grille. Involves being a jedi with the bolt and spanner but nothing that requires much skill.

Thanks for that, didn’t really fancy taking the bumper off; definitely worth a try.

Many thanks for the links, their prices are reasonable.
Regarding local outlets, the one I used to use closed down but I’m sure there are others.

Update.

Hi guys,
Just to update. New condenser (with drier) fitted. Worst part was removing the plastic clips holding everything together. Several broke but new ones have been obtained.

Aircon guy has just left after testing for any leaks (none found) and refilling system.
I now have nice cold air coming from the vents!

Overall I found it quite a simple job, certainly easier than changing the front shocks!

Thanks for your comments and suggestions.
