There is a new map available for the SD satnav in Holland(see also my thread: http://www.civinfo.com/forum/electronics-ice-9g/112580-old-map-new-civic.html#post1804105).
(I don't know if it is available in the UK too, but I assume it is.)

12-13YEAR is now 13-14YEAR

It came in a box (like a DVD) and contains an SD card.
There is no manual but you can get it here: http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/in...n_GB/documents/Honda/Honda_SD_Navi_Manual.pdf

Short version: Turn on the satnav. Go to Info and make a note of the data there:
Map version
Program Version
Unit Code
Serial Number
Confirmation code

Go to https://ec.clarion.com/certificationcode_en/hinput.php.
You will get a certification code once you have typed in the data.
Go to your car again and start the map update (Menu – Settings – Others – Map update).
Replace the SD card. You will need a very small Phillips screwdriver (and a sharp fingernail to remove the lid).
Input the certification code.

I do not know if this procedure can be cracked, but that would be illegal, of course.

Is this something the dealer can do or can they issue me with the "kit"?

My Civic is going in for it's first service on Friday.

The dealer can do the update or you can do it yourself. It is not complicated. You just need a small cross-point screwdriver and the manual.
I am not sure if the dealer will charge any money for it. You should expect not because the update costs £ 179,00 in Holland. I can't find what the price in the UK is, but I am sure it will not be cheap.

Mine was free like I said before.
