My real name is Carl and I am from the West Midlands...
Been over on CTRO and TRO from the start of them really, but only recently been back on after I sold my 2nd Type R in April 2008. Had one of the first ones back in 2002 when they were released and sold it regrettably, I then ended up buying the second one.
Now it appears I am doing the same all over again :lol:
Ever since getting rid of the last one, I never want to keep any of the cars, especially as they are not in the same class, had a Megane 1.9DCi first while I did some saving for deposit etc... It didn't last long and just over a year it was part exchanged for a BMW 116d Sport, which in fact I did like although a bit under powered (was planning a little mod) but the reason for the new car was so I didn't have any issues. In the short time I had it, I called BMW assistance out twice, it went to the dealers 2/3 times and it just started griping me, so again I started looking around. The prices I was getting for it too pushed me into changing at the time too and this is when I got the current car, a Citroen DS3 1.6 HDi, I liked the look of it, was economical and cheap to run, but I never drive it. I go to work and back with it and that is it.
When I used to have my Type R's I would go out just for a drive, but now I don't with any of the cars since, and I miss that. The fact I did around 10-12,000 miles when I had my Type R's but now I have not even got to 6,000 miles with this one since I had it at the end of March last year, and I go to the same place of work too :lol: says something.
I did not realise the prices Type R's were these days, the fact you can pick up a decent facelift EP3 for around £4k or even an FN2 for around £7k is just too tempting. I wish I had got one before the DS3 now, but just didn't look as I just thought it would not be possible.
So although I have only had the DS3 for less than a year, I will be looking at getting rid of this and then be on the search for my 3rd Type R
I just don't know what to get for the best really, when the FN2 was released I went for an extended test drive with a mate, no dealer present and found it okay but not as liked as the EP3 for me, it was all a bit too refined. However now the EP3 is getting a little dated and mods are available for the FN2 to make it more lively perhaps I should be looking at one of these?
With the FN2 for me is the rear, never been keen, interior is awesome, side and view from the front look great. However I am starting to look past this, especially with it in silver.
Anyway enough of my ramblings, seen a few people mention this site so I thought I would pop over and have a nose
