New Radiator ??

hi everyone,
just a quick question, I'm an aircraft engineer by trade however, I'm confident with cars but still need to learn..... iv found quite alot of radiator coolant underneath the car in the garage a couple of days ago. iv had the front bumper off to check where it's coming from, it looks like the bottom weld on the rear side of the radiator is on its way out, but not sure how long it's been like this.

Just with regards to checking the coolant level...... the radiator is full to the cap but I'm no to sure about the fluid resiviour to the right hand side of the radiator as you look at the engine. in the manual it says it should be between the min and max lines but I can't see a min line, and from what I can gather its an expansion tank so surly it's only there to collect any overflow if it had any ?! so should be empty? and can't see how it would be able to supply back into the radiator with only the tube going in from the top and no pump?

any information would be grateful as I don't want to leave it that long !and do you think I would need a new radiator ? I'll probly get a specialist to look at it first tho?!

thanks guys

The level should be inbetween min and max, it will be marked on the bottle somewhere. If your level is to high and the coolant is warm it may overflow out the breather pipe. Have you topped the system up recently?
no I havnt touched it and the bottle is empty from what I can see, I can't see a min line on it anywhere but I'll top the bottle up ASAP and see if it continues to leak, hopefully it doesn't.
update........ it's still leaking slightly, so was lookin at maybe getting an OEM radiator maybe second hand :s but a couple of questions,

does anyone by any chance have the honda part no. and not the number from original parts website as its there item numbers not honda's?!

with regards to a second hand one.... is there a difference in WATER RADIATOR for aircon or non-aircon models, I don't think there is but just checking !

cheers guys !!!
They can be repaired - new 'cores' if required - brazing \ welding - whatever ...
thanks for that j. Derek, I'll look into getting it replaced then, cheers
a few years back i had a small leak in my 406 coupe rad, i used some of the stuff in the link below, had no problems after that and also didnt notice any side effect and being a 3L it got hot so the stuff works and holds

Do NOT put that crap in your radiator.

Its fine for an old shitter, but not on a nice car. Once its in your system you will never get rid of it, and it could block small water ways.

Don't do it, if your going to do the job, do it properly and just replace/recore the Rad.

hi there, yea iv had a look at this last week and emailed the guy askin if he had the radiator and if it was a frontal impact but never got back to me, iv found a 2010 radiator but with both fans, expansion bottle and aircon radiator but for £350.

really want to get it as I havnt seen anything else around but I would need to be certain that I could sell everything else on to bring the price back down as a new one is around £250, I just dont want to but a second hand one for more than I could get a new one haha.

not sure what to do and, the other thing I'm gona do this week is look into repairs like some others have suggested and see how much that would be aswell ?!

thanks mate, appreciate the help
temp gauge-please help

hi i have bought a 2008 civic type s, my temperature gauge goes up 3/4 of the way up and comes down again back to normal, any ideas? it happened three times mostly when the car was cold.

i started the car and the heater was unusually cold, my partner was driving the car 2hours before hand so i thought the heater will be a little warm, it wasnt!!! then i started to drive it and the temperature gauge went just above 3/4 of the way up and then came back down to normal, when it came back down the car heater was warm. please help

sorry for changing the subject a little but im a little paranoid as my partner drives my son around in the car
