Hey! Welcome fellow FN2 owner! I bought mine back in July and is my first Honda too. Upgrades, I think the general consensus is that making sure your suspension is tip-top (bushes etc) and a HKS or Skunk induction kit coupled with a good quality exhaust like Tegiwa's are the way to go. Also get the car looked over by someone like TDI North if you're maybe looking for more than a few BHP.

Edit: also, talk to EBC about your brakes, they usually recommend Yellow Stuff pads. The stock brakes only just handles the power of the unmodified car. Use the forum discount code for a bit of money off :D

Mine is stock, as I don't see many in regular trim.

The Civic is a 2007 on a 57 plate so i do believe its pre LSD and its got 90k on it.
LSD came in as std in April 2010 so unless one got fitted later it won't have one.
That's weekend warrior mileage so sounds like it was looked after.
I would check that the age related items have been done:
plugs @ 75k miles
fuel filter 7 years, gearbox oil 8 years, coolant 10 years
valves every 25k miles

if it has all been done on time then you have little to worry about

I've ordered all the service parts for it for my own peace of mind.

You mention Valves at 25k what valves are ye talking about?

So i got the car!!!! I absolutely love it. its not the fastest thing in the world, i had a clio 172 before it and that wouldve left it sitting but omg, no rattles, knocks, squeaks or bangs. Pulls like a train and goes round a corner very well.

Im going to jack it up at the weekend and see if it has an LSD lol

Great news! Can't wait to see some more photos of it. The straight-line speed might not be world changing in the R, but they're SO fun to hussle down a country road, I suspect your Clio wouldn't keep up then. It won't break down as much either!

try a 9g ;) R 315ish bhp 1400ish kgs max, rev the 8th R hard and its quick, ive found coming from remapped VWs adding say 1 or 2k rpm to a normal gearchange rev range works in a Type-r, dunno if 8G has it, but i get led lights when optimum gear change time, ala F1 type display above speedo.

not that i rev the baws off betty often, no need with that fat turbo shoehorned in under bonnet.

Erm kinda, we get a little "orange, Orange, RED" LED bar on the left side opposite the "VTec Active" light in the speedometer display section. But that's only really useful if you're proper thrashing it and go into the redline.

much same as betty then i get a series of led lamps across top edge of dashboard above speedo. if i see those lights its being spanked hard yep, which is rare.

my speedo doesnt turn red when R mode is on, kinda wish it did, rest of my dials in main cluster do though. poor show honda :p cheapskates and whilequite sad, i love the start button press needle sweeps :p i coded my VWs to do same. Simple things eh :p
