Hello All,

For a couple of weeks now I have been thinking about changing my 2007 Jazz for a Civic. I am delighted to have found this fantastic site and I have been spending a lot of time researching here. As a consequence I quite fancy an 8th generation Civic with the panoramic roof, manual gearbox and the petrol engine. I have already test driven a 1.4 Si and found the engine performance better than I expected. So I have narrowed the search down to the 1.8 ES model, my budget is £9k to £11k, cash. No part exchange, my dad wants to buy my Jazz.

Crown Garage in Soham have a Civic that intrigued me. The advert says it is a 1.8 SE but it has the panoramic roof, fancy wheels and in white?

I am taking it for granted that the 8th generation is better than the seventh but from the WIki the changes seem to be minor. I listen to my MP3 player a lot so the AUX connector is handy on the 8th generation although I have seen the article on adding one. By avoiding a 7th generation Civic, would I be missing anything?

I would welcome any words of wisdom and advice, thanks in anticipation.

Do you really mean 7th vs 8th gen or original 8th gen vs facelift ?
7th gen = upto - 2005
8th gen = 2006 - 2011 [facelfit in 2009/2010]
9th gen = 2012 onward

Hello Relic,

My apologies, I have narrowed my search down to the 8th gen (2006 - 2011), the slight dilema being over the pros and cons of paying slightly extra for the 2009 face-lift model. I am not a sporty type of driver by any means and I am more inclined towards whichever 8th gen Civic model gives the smoothest, quietest more refined ride.

Righto...I see mate.
The face lift has extra gadgets many probably wouldnt want to be without.
Other than that the difference are cosmetic.
Newer cars have got arguably better build quality and less niggles.

You want an EX is you want all the extras in a 5dr.
Type s GT if you want a 3 dr.

Just looked at the link...
It's defo not a SE!
So is it painted or wrapped? white was only availible on the run out TI version

and the guards on the rear brakes are not standard on the ES ;)

I know you said you narrowed it down to a 1.8 but if not bothered about sportiness, surely the 1.4 makes more sense?
