Got back this week from a European jaunt. Went over to Nurburgring with 6 fellas from Type-R-Owners, staying in a house around 2k from the Nordschleife entrance gates. I didn't take my FN2 (which I bitterly regret now) instead opting for a passenger seat in my mate's DC5 Integra Type R. We were in two white DC5s and an S2000 with blue wheels! :D

Arrived at Nurburgring around 12noon on Saturday after getting the early morning Channel Tunnel and we all proceeded to get stuck into the German beer and sausages in the complex bar as the Ring was closed due to a 12 hour endurance race being run. Cracking weather, around 23C, lovely.

Around 6pm after many pints had been consumed we learned that the Ring had been opened and for the same price, they were letting people onto the GP Circuit as well, so it was the full course. Gutted, we were all far to gone to drive.

Sunday came round quickly and we were at the entrance gates for 8am. It was forecast rain later in the day, so we got there early. I had my first two passenger lap, had a mooch around, had a huge burger at the Devil's Cafe then went out for another lap. It got to around 2pm I think and the heavens opened. Pretty much the day over with regards to laps, just not worth 24 Euros to drive round in the tipping rain.

We all retreated to the house, and got ready for the night out. We ended up at Pistenklause, a restaurant in the basement of Hotel am Tiergarten, which is owned by Sabine Schmitz's family. Had fillet steak, lots of beer and Jagermeister and including a fair tip it only came to 40 Euro. Excellent!

The morning after (Monday) we were at Spa for a Circuit-Days open pit track day. It was only around a 90 minute drive from Nurburgring. Unbeknown to me, the chap who'd arranged it from our group, had been in touch with HOT and we were sharing a pit garage with them. Brilliant! Honda's galore!

Otherwise present were Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, including an absolute hero in a Carrera GT who was putting it sideways round every corner he could, wet or dry!

Had a fantastic day. Had an excellent few passenger laps in one of the DC5s (video will be further down), and a few passenger laps with Pigdog in his FN2, who I had no idea was going to be there! Nice to meet you by the way! Car looked brilliant and went like the proverbial S of a shovel!

We headed back to Germany and Tuesday came round after more Currywurst and beers. It was now time for the drive back to Calais, but not before we got to sample some mighty fine Schnitzel at local eatery. Excellent, grub. In fact all of the food we had in Germany and Belgium was excellent.

Will definitely be doing this again next year, and I will definitely be taking the FN2. It deserves it to be honest. ;)

Anyhow, pictures speak a thousand words. Get a cup of tea or coffee and have a flick through, there are enough of them. Oh and couple of vids at the end so worth flicking down.

(Apologies if anyone is on a slow connection, but they should have loaded by the time you've read down to here!)

Story starts at 04:00 at the last petrol stop before the tunnel. Harv and Stu were filling up when an S2000 pulled up with blue wheels...

Arrived at the Ring, found some view points for some pics of the endurance race that was being run. We were all pretty knackered after the long morning and drive to get there, so the rest of the night pretty much consisted of burgers, currywurst, beer, random German MG-Rover distributor hell-bent on going to the 'Spring-Break Party for the titties', cigars and sleep.

Sunday morning arrived bright and early at the entrance for Nürburgring Nordschleife entrance.

Retreated from the Ring due to heavy rain in the late afternoon, but gave us chance to get some cash and go to Sabine Schmitz family's restaurant Pistenklause.

Tuesday Morning and trip home commences.

Random non-new shape Vaux related car being tested on a closed to the public Ring session. Sounded a bit of a beast.

Wow. Two of the most famous circuits there are, anywhere, and back-to-back, too.

The pics and videos are amazing. I didn't know Spa had track days: might have to have a think about that one.

Thanks for sharing!

I cant wait to get back to the ring...
Last year I spent 2 days at the ring followed by 2 days at Spa - the single most exciting driving experience of my life so far! Only down side was that we blew the car up on the way home. lol
