Hi

I've got an error message coming on in my car so I was looking at a couple of ODB readers.

The first one seems to support a couple of extra codecs:

A.SAE J1939 CAN(29bit ID,250*Kbaud)
B.USER1 CAN(11*bit ID,125*Kbaud)
C.USER2 CAN(11*bit ID,50*kbaud)

but the other one has an on off switch which I think would be good.

Are those 3 extra codecs of any use for the 8th gen honda civic?
Would ether of these be able to tell which wheel speed sensor is faulty?

none of those 2 will read ABS / VSA codes you will need to spend a little more money to do that
what they will do is read engine management ( EML ) codes with an application like torgue but that's about it

if you want something that will read ABS / VSA , Airbag codes something like this will do the job

https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT630.html

this model has been superseded now but it works just fine and is still supported and the price is good

I stay in the Glasgow area. So is the NT650 the latest version? It's £25 more than the NT630 but I can't relay see what you get extra.

Turns out my dad has the foxwell NT500 VAG so I'll find out if I can get the honda software for that model.

I also saw a video on youtube where a guy used a paper clip to make the car display the code. Would this damage the car?

and this site says you should short different pins which is confusing.

Unfortunately foxwell doesn't let you software update the NT500 VAG to support honda.

So it's looking like £135 to £160 to read the code or a paper clip.

Has anyone tryed shorting out the odb2 pins to get this information before?
When looking online I see different people sorting different pins to get this information which fills me with even less confidence.
