Right, I've had the ep3 for just over two weeks and put around 1 litre of oil in. The Fn2 used very little. I've come to the conclusion that there are several possible reasons why the ep3 is using a fair bit of oil.

1. There's a leak
2. Worn valve guides or piston rings
3. Oil seal failure
4. Wrong oil in the car

I'm hoping 4 :smile3:

1. Cannot see any oil drips etc in the bay or on the floor
2. The car runs as sweet as a nut and does not smoke or stutter
3. See 2.
4. First port of call is to get some decent 5w40, use my hamp filter and get the oil changed.

Could it be anything else?

Wondered if there could be a pcv issue?

BTW the car had a service before I bought it, the oil looks fresh.

Is the exhaust tail pipe excessively gunged? If it ain't coming out the front by leaking it's coming out the tail pipe. 1ltr in two weeks is quite a bit?

Exhaust is quite "dry", thinking it's a 0-30 grade that is too thin and "burning" off.

5w40 fully synthetic is the preferred option. Gotta be my starting point, will check the pcv valve too.

Had 0w-30 when I first bought my FN2 and 1l in 2-3 weeks was normal... I nearly sold the car as I would've legit just bought an RX7 at that consumption. Once all 3 of the above were resolved it never uses a drop outside of track use or weekend bashes where I top up 500ml over the year.

Mine did the same flashy if I used anything less than 5w40.

Definitely less consumption now, need a half litre top up but will be the first in a month. Might just have been settling
